Yeah I totally agree in the fact that it was added to give the games something new. I always liked the slide from 3 on in fact sometimes I would slide instead of walk because its just quicker. Speaking of 3 and I am surprised that no one brought it up so I will. How many of you guys use the super jump or the screen freeze trick on Megaman 3? I use to on the NES versions once I beat the game mainly the super jump trick cause it was so fun. I dont know if it works on the Anniversity collection or not I never tried it.

@MegaStoneSmash91: In almost every Megaman game I always use the megabuster/armcannon the only time I use the special weapons is against bosses. The only exception that I can think of is in Megaman 2 in Quickman's Stage with the laser rooms than I use the Flash stopper. Also in Megaman 2 I use the MetalBlades more often then the armcannon as it is called prior to MM4 but thats because they barely use any energy and the can go in any direction.
The only problem I have always had in MM5 was the elevator in Gyroman's stage I could never get by it. Hopefully I will be able to get past it tonight when I play it.
Sometimes I just like to run around using a weapon for a change of pace or because the weapon has good qualities. On occasion I'll actually pass up the chance to use a weapon so I get more of a challange, or if I want to know what that part is like without that weapon. Some of the weapons are fun to use, too. Lately I've been beating the Robot Masters with just the arm cannon/Mega Buster the first time, and then use their weaknesses in the boss rush in Wily's castle. Don't know why, i just like doing it that way.
The Flash Stopper is Bright Man's weapon in MM4, Flash Man has the Time Stopper. I don't get it either. I haven't needed to use the Time Stopper in Quick Man's stage since I first started playing the game. And why does everyone think Quick Man is hard to beat? I can take him out just fine with the arm cannon (Plus he has an awesome theme).
I don't think I've ever had trouble with Gyro Man's stage. Even the drill-covered elevator doesn't give me any grief. I'm just good at it I guess.

I have never used any of the "second controller cheats". I don't want the game to become that easy, and I don't need them. The only glitch I ever use is the one where you can get Rush Jet early by highlighting Shadow Blade in the sub screen then pushing right. I'm pretty sure none of the glitches or cheats work for MM3 on the Anniversary Collection. However, the pause-resume trick in MM1 still works, but you use the start button now, since the Z-button (Select) is used to bring up the sub screen.
As much as I love MM2, I've never been a fan of Crash and Metal man's stages OR themes. They're the duds of MM2 if you ask me. And as great as Dr.Wily's MM2 track is I find it a tad overrated, and it gets annoying in the middle. MM9 imo had the greatest Wily Music.
Crash Man and Metal Man have two of the more popular themes in MM2, at least, that's the popular opinion. They are not duds, though. So, what themes do YOU like in 2? My favorites are Quick Man, Metal Man, Bubble Man, the stage select tune, and yes, Wily Stage 1 & 2. I do agree that people love the Wily theme a little too much, but it's a good song.

I have to agree Metalman and Crashman are some pretty great tunes sometimes outta nowhere I will start humming Crashman's tune even if its been awhile since I played the game. I also like Woodman's stage music along with the others you mentions Mega. I never heard of the Rush Jet cheat but I do remember the MM1 cheat but I never did it.
@Metalmario I dont see why not they released the other 4 they would be stupid if they didnt release the other 2.

I think we can agree that every song in MM2 is fantastic. I also find myself humming tunes randomly, but not always from 2. Sometimes I'll find myself humming Dust Man's theme, or Plant Man's, or Cut Man's. There's just so many good compositions, and there's always something that appeals to everyone.
I can't believe you haven't heard of that glitch in MM3! You can use it to get Rush Jet and Rush Marine even if you haven't yet defeated Needle Man or Shadow Man. For Rush jet you need to have defeated Shadow Man. If you highlight Shadow Blade on the weapon screen and push right, Rush will appear and if you select him as your weapon you will see him transform into Jet form and you will exit the subcreen. You now have access to Rush Jet, but it has no energy so you need to pick some up. After you get energy, use Rush Jet once and you will have it for the rest of the game. The exact same thing is used to get Rush Marine, but you need Spark Man's weapon instead of Shadow Man's.

Bubble has the best track hands down, it totaly captures the aquatic vibe and is just flat out incredible, the same goes for Air and Wood man's themes as well. And I adore the Boss select music, the title screen music, option music, get weapon music and practically everything else. Flash, Quick and Heat man's tracks are classic as well. MM2 and MM9 easily had the greatest MM sound tracks period regarding the main MM franchise.
Yet Crash man's theme and stage just annoyed me the hell out of me. His music and stage is like thee' 'Elec' man of MM2. While I just never liked Metal Man's stage or(again) his theme as well. I'm just not really a fan of dull, colorless and more robotic themed stages. I like the colorful, bright and organic stuff. Bubble, Wood and Air are PERFECT examples. Those floating red drill heads in Air man's stage are pretty creative and imaginitive, it was rare to see something like that in a MM game
Yeah, Bubble Man's theme really sets the mood nicely, as do Wood Man's and Air Man's. Heat Man's also does a pretty good job with "sounding like the stage looks". MM9 does have some pretty great tunes. I especially like Plug Man's and Concrete Man's themes, but it's all good.
@MegaStoneSmash91: Ah ok I think I know what you are talking about now with the Rush trick. I heard about it years ago by than I didnt have a NES anymore so I never got to try it, I doubt it works in the Anniversity Collection.
Yeah early on in the MM games they did a really nice job of designing the levels around the Robot Masters. Dont get me wrong some of the later games in the series but a few of them you were like WTF. Like Dustman's for example his reminded me of a junkyard and what was with the chainsaw images in the background?? Another one that puzzled me for years was Flashman's Stage why was in covered in ice and so slippery? That never made sense to me.
I got a few bucks tucked away I am thinking of picking up MM9 and 10 to finish off my collection.

I'm pretty darn sure they removed all the glitches in MM3 on the Collection.
Those aren't chainsaws in Dust Man's stage, they are conveyer belts moving junk around. His stage fits him, but not as much as it would fit Junk Man. It's almost like they should switch stages. The cockroach robots in Junk Man's stage would make more sense for Dust Man, since cockroaches and dust are two things that are usually synonymous with "Hasn't been taken care of" or "abandoned". I never understood Flash Man's stage either.
@MegaStoneSmash91: Is that what they are I always thought they were chainsaws lol. I havent played 7 for years so I dont remember Junkman too much. The thing that bothered me with 7 I think it was was that they only presented 4 of the eight robot masters at a time, at least I think that was 7. Alot of people have said that MM4 was the downfall in the series to me 7 seemed to be the series downfall.

@Waveboy: Even if it is a total disappointment like 7 & 8 were I still want it for my collection. Truth be told I have heard several good reviews on MM 10 and I have read several bad I guess it just depends on the person.

They only gave you 4 Robot masters at a time in 7 AND 8 (but not in the 8-bit remakes), and there doesn't seem to be any real reason to do so. MM4 is usually the title that everyone says starts a "downward slope" of quality, but I think it's just as good as the earlier ones. To me, the Classic series really has no downfall, even though some games might not be quite as highly praised. There's nothing terrible about the series.
Eh, I ended up deleting MM10 off of my Wii...Total dissapointment after playing the awesomeness that was MM9. MM10 was less imaginitive, less colorful, the music was dissapointing(although Solar man's track was fantastic if you ask me)and the robot masters were just awful. Negatives aside, it's still a good game I guess....But i'd say it's in the middle range as far as MM games go, definitly not one of the best, but not one of the worst either. It beats MM4!
This comment is full of false statements imo. Why would you delete it? You paid 10 bucks for it, you said it was a good game, was there any need to go so far as to delete it? Less imaginative? Less colorful? I just can't see it. Solar Man's theme is one of the best in the game, but the music is far from being a disappointment. What about Nitro Man's theme, or Chill Man's? What about the boss theme? There's plenty of good tunes here. None of the Robot Masters are awful. None. Not even Sheep Man, he's cool in his own way. I've never felt any hate towards any Robot Masters, there's just no reason for me to dislike them. And MM4 is a great game, but you already know how I feel about that.
@MegaStoneSmash91: They made NES versions of Megaman 7 and 8? I wasnt aware of that maybe I will look for them. I have the SNES version of MM7 and the PS version of MM8 on the Anniversity collecton.
Oh I just purchased MM9 and 10, I will be getting to those as soon as I finish the others.

Exactly as I said, it depends on who you ask. MM7 & 8 aren't disappointments, but I'm not going to rant or anything. Am I the only one who doesn't hate any of the games?

They didn't make NES games out of them, they are downloadable titles off the internet. You won't find them on WiiWare, PSN, or XBox Live, though, it has to be on a computer. Some Japanese people who really know what they're doing made them. I've played the 8-bit MM7, and it's pretty much exactly what it would look and feel and sound like on the NES. It's a great remake of the game, and you should give it a try. I'm not sure the 8-bit MM8 is out yet, but it's been a while since I looked it up.
You have the original cartridge of MM7? Let me guess, got it the day it came out? Those go for pretty good sums of money on eBay and such, usually $30-$50. I'd really like an original copy of MM7, but I can't find one at a decent price. Make sure you hold on to that! MM8 on the Collection is the only version I have of it too. It's faithful to the original except for the last 4 Robot Masters having their voices sped up, but it's not a major problem.

AH ok you mean those other means of getting games that we cant speak here I gotcha. I would go into detail here but I dont want to get in trouble but I dont get games that way anymore. I had a bad one wreck my last computer so I dont go there anymore especially since this computer is only 6 months old.
No I dont have MM7 on the SNES cartridge what I meant is I have the SNES version as opposed to what I thought was a NES version on the Anniversity collection. The only 3 that I have in cartridge form are 2, 3, and 4 but as I said before I dont have a NES anymore. I suppose I can find the original PS version of MM8 since I still have my PS2 but like I said I didnt really care for that one.
Has the game play of MM7 is it just like 1-6 but with better graphics??? Cause if thats the case I will give it another shot. Part of the thing I didnt like was how they had an intro level like the Megaman X games. And of course the 4 bosses at a time. Where does it rank with you among the other Megaman games?
RetiredPush Square Moderator and all around retro gamer.
@Tasuki Do you mean emula...uh...I mean.....those forbidden things? It's nothing like that, it's almost like an app for a phone or something. It's a stand alone game and you don't need any additional stuff to play it, just download it and go.
Wait, you thought the version of Mega Man 7 on the collection was an NES game? I must be confused or something. MM7 is an SNES game, and it always has been. The only 8-bit Mega Man 7 is the one I mentioned, but I'm not sure how that one fits into the grand scheme of things.
Are you talking about the 8-bit remake? It's 8-bit Mega Man in it's most classic form: same Mega Man sprite, same sound effects, same look and feel. It has the same graphics style as the 6 NES games, and there is no intro level, no mid-level, no Shop, and all 8 bosses are available from the start. As for the original SNES game, I would say that the gameplay is the same, except with larger sprites and better graphics. You have a little less room to move around in, almost like the Game Boy MM games. It's not my favorite, but it's still an awesome game. Some of the NES games are higher on my (fictional) Mega Man list, but it's worth playing. The music is good, too.
@MegamanStoneSmash91: Oh ok so are the 8 bit version something like the Super Mario Crossover game? Cause if thats the case I will check them out.
Lol no I was saying that the SNES version is on the collection and that is all I have even known lol. I didnt even know there was an 8 bit version till you said something lol. I know I can be confusing sometimes.
I did the first 3 bosses MM5. I started off with Gravityman then went to Gyroman and than did Crystal man. Hopefully I will get some more time later to play it some more.
