I was talking about just FPSs. For just about everything else, I prefer a gamepad.

Actually, FPS and Strategy are the only genres I can think of that are better with a keyboard and mouse...

What PC games have you tried?

I totally agree. Well, not 100%, I do prefer KB+M over N64.

@AlexSays: Yep. Pretty much every fps now uses some form of control method that originated in Halo.

The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.

Dual Analogs are my least favourite(well N64 would be but as you said it's not around any more)but the keyboard part of the PC controls scheme is clunky in my opinion. I'd much prefer some weird Nunchuk + Mouse option.

Not just that

For every FPS on consoles

You see any Goldeneye control methods still around? Heck no, it was horrible.

I mean to imply that it set the standards for control in every FPS, including that it should be dual analog, the left stick should be for movement only, and the right stick should be for aiming/turning only.
I think Goldeneye used the default control scheme of left analog stick up/down to move forward back, C-left/right for strafing, Analog left/right for turning, C-up/down for looking up or down. That was a horrible control scheme, but at least it could be changed to the Halo setup.
Turok didn't even allow the Halo setup as an option.

Edit: Of course the Wiimote+nunchuk setup is great for FPS's as well. Sure, you can't rotate with quite the efficiency of dual analog, but you can hop right into an FPS without being terrible for the first couple of weeks.

The reason I ask about trying PC games is because I also use to hate the keyboard and mouse for a long time

And I think it was mostly playing games that require being really comfortable with that setup. So I'd just get frustrated and never really try.

Now with a number of years and games under my belt, using the keybord and mouse is just as easy to use as any other setup that gets thrown at me, dual analog, wii remote, etc.

I don't understand how people can say goldeneye had a horrible control scheme. It just depends on what you're used to. It's basically the same thing, just reversed, and Halo DEFINITELY did not invent the way you control console FPSs. I still use Goldeneye's "reversed" stick control whenever I play an FPS, if the settings will allow me to change it. It just feels better to me.

Well please don't tell us the game that did lol

Where are all these great dual analog console shooters back in the day

I like how GoldenEye is considered influential, but Turok is not?
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter was released 7 months before GoldenEye was.

Yeah, I have to agree as well. Even though I started out playing FPSes on the PC, I can never quite get them down like I do with console games. I guess it's always because I had some ****ty mouses that made aiming properly impossible. Plus, the Keyboard's pretty uncomfortable to use as a controller.

I still prefer it over the N64's controller, though.

Really I have never been much of a PC gamer, I have always just preferred consoles, now I have played a few PC games using a controller which improved the game play greatly for me. That said it's just a feel thing, I just never felt comfortable playing games with a key board and mouse. It's kinda weird since I'm such a big PC guy but when it comes to playing games I want a controller in hand.
