Nice topic! While I respect the Perfect Run from Galaxy 2 my vote has to go to Champion's Road from Super Mario 3D World. This gets my vote because I was able to beat the Perfect Run while I have yet to take down Champion's Road...
My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."
@brewsky oh man you are so right about that one. When I finally beat that level I remember saying "well, thank God I will never have to do that again." And I never have.

The second or third special world level in Super Mario World. I think it was called Tubular and entire level had you float across it just using the balloon power-up. I remember I had a real problem with that level.

Actually, Champion's Road isn't that hard with Lucky Bells. It's not simple either, but Lucky Bells do help a LOT!!!

It's the part where you have to bounce on the piranha plants that gives me the most trouble.

The hardest one I've played is that luigi level in Mario Galaxy's toy level. The one where you have to collect a ton of coins with all the trick platforms.

That level was a real pain. I died countless times as a kid, but beating it made me feel that I accomplish something amazing.
The only reason Lost Levels is hard is because it's a collection of tough levels with a strict life count. But the levels themselves aren't too tough. It's just that losing a life is more devastating. That being said, World 8-4 is a nightmare. Talk about pixel perfect platforming.

I dunno, back when I played it on the SNES all I can remember is getting stuck on a seemingly impossible jump.
