Dark Souls 2, of course.

The only thing that I think I like that most people seem to universally dislike is the pipe hacking mini game in Bioshock. I actually like it more than Bioshock 2's quicker timing based hacking mini game.

And another because I'm playing through it for the second time (with my wife): Zero Time Dilemma. I don't know that it gets hate, but it's widely considered the worst of the Zero Escape games (which it is), but I like it a lot. I prefer it over AI: The Somnium Files to say the least.

@BloodNinja me too. It's not my favorite Souls game, but I'd pick it before loads of other games.

@Losermagnet Yep, same here. Though, I vacillate a lot between DS1/2 and DeS.

Pokemon BDSP. Its a loveletter to oldschool Pokemon.

Not Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, haven't played them, but want to since I never played the DS originals. Similarly, I actually liked Pokemon Let's Go Eevee a lot. It may have been simplified, but I still loved it. It was fun exploring Kanto in HD.

The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!

@Sunsy I was going to say this. I never played lets go but from what I have seen, it actually does really well at the remake part, and makes the pokemon feel alive, The catching system is my only gripe.

Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!

@Snatcher As someone who played Blue, I teared up as soon as I heard the music for Pallet Town. That's understandable, I do remember a lot disliked it because it got rid of wild Pokemon battles. Honestly, seeing some Pokemon running around did make it feel lively.

@Sunsy Agreed, I think it wasn't only the pokemon running around that did the trick, but riding them did it as well, I mean look at haunter over here, The anime shows him the size of ones face but in the game he is way bigger then a human, Onix, Snorlax all had those things about them, If it wasn't for the getting rid of wild battles, people Might of thought it was a good game, Or maybe they would have wined about the post game idk.

@Snatcher Confession, I honestly forgot riding Pokemon was something in that game.

Snatcher

@Sunsy LOL, Pretty easy to forget since they got rid of it for some reason. (In later games)

@BloodNinja you've played Demon's Souls aye? Could you please explain how tendency works? I have a rough idea (seems to go light when I kill bosses, seems to go dark when I die) but it doesn't seem to be changing anything. Is it subtle?

I've liked a lot of not so well received games. The only one I can currently think of that wasn't by any account great was PS1 Azure Dreams.

I wouldn't play it now though. The gameplay when in the dungeons was kinda boring. It was mostly the town building and dating element that were really cool to participate in.

@Losermagnet Of course! But it won't be pretty

So, when you start a fresh character, all world tendencies start in neutral, or 0. Whenever you do certain actions, it will add points UP for white world tendency, and subtract points DOWN for black world tendency.

With the above knowledge, from Neutral, (0) Pure White occurs at +3. Pure Black occurs at -4.

You move towards Pure White when you:
1) Defeat a boss. (+1)
2) Defeat a unique, NAMED Black Phantom invader, either in PvP or the NPC versions. (+3)
3) Defeat the Red Dragon (Boletaria only)
4) Defeat the Blue Dragon (Boletaria only)
5) Defeat a Primevil Demon.

You move towards Black WT by:
1) Dying outside the Nexus in Human Form (-1)
2) Kill Old King Doran (Boletaria only, -2)
3) Kill the BODY form of any of the NPC unique named invaders, such as Executioner Miralda in Boletaria (-3)

Dying in Soul Form does nothing for World Tendency. Dying in the Nexus does not impact World Tendency, either. You can use that knowledge to "freeze" World Tendency by defeating a boss, returning to the Nexus, suiciding to become Soul Form, and then continuing the level you are working on. This way if you die in the level, you don't lose progress towards White WT. Useful if there's a boss that gives you trouble LIKE FLAME LURKER O_O Ahem.

You will see world changes at Pure White or Pure Black world tendency. Pure Black is very useful because enemy drop rates increase, but enemies are stronger. You also see new black phantom versions of standard enemies. These do NOT count towards your world tendency if you defeat them, but add a different challenge and always 100% drop certain items. Primeval Demons will only appear in Pure Black WT, and they are the only enemy that drops Colorless Demon Souls, an upgrade material for unique weapons.

For example, if you get to Dragon God and you have Pure White WT BEFORE you defeat him, you can acquire the Dragon Bone Smasher located to the left of the first hallway upon entering the boss fog.

Note: World Tendency is unique to each level, so if you get Pure White in Stone Fang Tunnel it does not make a difference in Boletaria Castle.

Let me know if you have questions, I love helping Souls players

@BloodNinja ah wonderful explanation, thank you. I'm playing the remake and, while it's good, I feel like this is what I've been missing. Makes me want to go back to the areas that I've already been to after getting a pure tendency. So is it possible to lock yourself out of a pure white tendency if you've killed an area boss and all the hostile NPCs? I'm on my last one (Shrine of Storms in my case) and hoping I'm able to go back and adjust the tendencies of the areas I've already completed.

And I appreciate the help! I don't play the Souls games online, so I love receiving help from Souls players 😅

  • Metroid Prime Hunters, Metroid Prime: Federation Force and Metroid: Other M - all 3 are Top 5 games within the Metroid Series, regardless of how untraditional they are
  • Pokemon Let's Go and Pokemon Sword - best generation of Pokemon games since Generation 5
  • Hey! Pikmin - enjoyed this one more than I did Pikmin 3
  • Star Fox Command - my favorite Star Fox game, liked the free roaming combat scenarios more so than the rail design of Star Fox 64

Woah, Prime Hunters and Star Fox Command.... I haven't heard of those titles in a long time. I used to play both extensively on DS.

I think Prime Hunters I have 100hrs+ in local mutliplayer, just playing against bots. I used the Blue/purple guy with the ice special. Don't recall the names.

@Losermagnet I don't play online, either. It can be fairly toxic!

It is possible to lock yourself out of Pure White World Tendency while playing offline, since the only ways to increase towards Pure White are limited. Playing online enables you to farm invaders and increase World Tendency. You aren't locked out of Pure Black, though. You can just die in human form as many times as needed and keep using Stones of Ephemeral Eyes until it's done. I don't know how it is for the remake, but in the original you have to return to the Nexus for World Tendency changes to trigger. I don't own a PS5 so I won't have access to the remake unless the rumor for PC comes true.

@BloodNinja i'll do some spelunking and see if i've gone and locked myself out. If so it's no biggy - just another reason to play through it again 😁

Ps - i missed your comment the first time aroundb but Flame Lurker was a jerk! He killed me more than any other proper boss. (Technically Dragon Lord killed me like twelve times but that was a lot of puzzle boss trial and error).
