My 3DS goes with me. But that's only cause of it's Street Pass features. I rarely play it on buses or trains. But I always have it with me on big trips of course. Just to bad the 3D goes away if the car bumps a little and you accidentally move the system.
Looking forward to: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again
Yes I bring my wii only because I get to play it in the car with special adapters (playing the last level of SMG2 is hard in the car!) Also I bring my 3ds and other handhelds if I feel like I really need more. One time though I lost my ds phat on vacation and didn't see it for another 6 months because it was under the cupholders in my car. I thought I lost it forever and I was estatic to finnaly find it. But now the poor ds phat is ripped in two so the bottom looks like a gameboy micro.

I have a Poison Safari with Mothim, Seviper and Muk.
Well when I was I kid I always took my Gameboy with me on every family vacation we took. Now I dont go on vacations too much the last time I did was Disneyland 6 years ago and I took my GBA along for the trip but mostly for my son to watch those Gameboy videos on it if you remember those at all.
Lol like Spongbob?
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
Vacation? What's a vacation? Don't even know what it is, much less what I'd do on one. Didn't know Americans could afford vacations anymore.
Seriously, if a time ever comes in my life that I can enjoy such a thing, no, I wouldn't take one. One of the points is to get away from everyday objects and routines, including ones that perhaps you enjoy. I wouldn't even take a cell phone along because I wouldn't WANT to be accessible. Oh yeah. I don't have one now because I don't want to be accessible...
Anyway, that time away from video games would just make you appreciate them more and give them a "new newness" for a short while!
I took my XL with me to the Bahamas last year, and I'm taking the XL or my 3DS to Aruba next month. I hear what the last two posters said, but that's nine hours in plane rides with nothing but crying kids. Truth be told: I work 65 to 70 hours a week, not counting 13 hours in commuting, so I don't get nearly enough time for video games or any of my recreational activities. So if I have a couple of down hours at the end of a day while I'm on vacation, I'd much rather play a game while catching some trade winds than watch some stupid TV program.
Nope I have portable systems for that. I generally try not to play a whole lot of games when on vacation though as the point is to try and do stuff that I don't normally do at home. Also many of my vacations involve seeing old friends who live in different states.
I carry my iPad with me everywhere, and it usually fills in the job of being the gaming device when I'm on holiday.
That said, when I'm on holiday, about the only device I'll touch is my Kindle for reading at night - or on the balcony overlooking the beach etc etc. I rather like getting away from stuff I usually do when I'm on holiday.
yes but only my 3DS, wii and other stuff non portable ones are too big

Actually, I might take the 3DS for StreetPass opportunities (especially as desperate as I am). Not sure, because then the temptation would be there to play it and I'm very good at giving in to temptation. Er, uh, bad.
It really depends on where I go on vacation. One of my favorite Vacation spots has almost everything close at 5:00 p.m., expect for taverns, restaurants, and custard shops. What I do for that vacation spot is bring a long a Nes and 8 to 10 games a long to play in the motel room.
If I stay at a place live Walt Disney World, or to a city for a vacation the answer is no for taking game consoles on vacation. There actually is a lot more to do at WDW or in a city past 5:00 p.m. than a vacation spot that has shops close at 5:00 p.m. and has out door activities close like miniature golf by 5:00 or 6:00 p.m.

I don't even take my portables with me. If I do I rarely play them.
This is exactly what happens to me. I drive to most of my vacation destinations so there's a significant portion of down time in the car on my way there and back home. I usually pack my PSP and/or DSi in a small camera bag, but I'll never play it. My wife will fish out the PSP occasionally and play Luxor but that's about it.
edit: I have a coworker that drags his 360 along on his beach trips.
my 3DS, DSi XL, DSi, DS Lite, PSPgo, PSP 3000, iPod Touch and soon to be PS Vita.
i hav a backpack full of the handhelds w/ chargers and games.
I also have a backpack that I carry all my cords and systems in as well. Oh and I carry water in my backpack as well.
