@Anti-Matter it's great that you have all of these games and I understand that you would like to support the franchises however if Nintendo were to release their games on other platforms what would prevent you from buying the games to support the franchise and I do buy their products if you look back at what I have said I have only ever emulated two games out of the many Nintendo games I play so therefore I do support Nintendo as they do an excellent Job at what they do and I really hope that they continue to do what they do best and that is make excellent games and PC's use more watts because they have alot more power and I still think Nintendo should keep making portable consoles and games for them although they can't reach there full potential in some aspects the game play is still great however imagine the great graphical enhancements that could be made if they started making games for the PC. PS I do have a job

@TheLZdragon fair enough I said something stupid and you caught me out however atleast you looked at all of my arguments before saying anything thank you

@itsyoboi73 I can't really see Nintendo being any more innovative, they're already good at that. Before the Switch leaks, few people would have guessed that Nintendo's next console would be both a handheld and a home console.

@GrailUK actually not only would it lead to increase in game sales (a game devs dream) it lead Nintendo to do more to their consoles to make them stand out more (a consumers dream) and make an increase in their console sales (a game devs dream)

@crimsontadpoles apart from the fact that it is possible that they come to a break through in technology and also there are lots of possibilities out there that no one has probably thought of yet

Okay, I want to ask something.
Have you ever see Nintendo's IP on playstation or xbox Officially ? (Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Zelda, F-Zero, Metroid, etc)
The answer is.... NO and Never will be happen. Sorry, mate. You will never able change Nintendo's policy. That's their Business, their IP that created just Only for Nintendo, not for their rival machines. And why the heck they have to sold their precious IP to their rival ?

Except SEGA, used to be Nintendo's rival but now SEGA IP (Sonic, Puyo Puyo, Hatsune Miku, etc) on Nintendo / Sony / Microsoft because SEGA turn into 3rd party developers, not as 1st party anymore after Dreamcast disaster long time ago.

As others have said, Nintendo makes money from selling their consoles, and having exclusive games encourages people to buy those consoles. It's more profitable for them to do this than to release games on other systems.

Why are we talking about Nintendo's ''policy''? It's not as if they ever signed a contract saying they can only release games on their own systems.

The answer is simple (and this applies to Sony and Microsoft too), their games sell consoles. And Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft get a cut whenever someone buys a third party game on their system. So in short, the more systems they sell, the more games will be sold for that system and the more royalty fees they can collect. Removing a big selling point means there will be less incentive to pick up a Nintendo console (or PlayStation/Xbox).

@Anti-Matter No I haven't seen their IP on other systems thats why I started this smart arse

@Dogorilla thats why if you had read other things I have said so far you will have realised that I had come up with some suggestions to over come those problems so go and look at some of things I have said because I have said it too many times

itsyoboi73

itsyoboi73

@Octane if you had looked at all of my arguments then you would have realised that I said that it would cause Nintendo to try harder to make their consoles better and stand out from the crowd which is what Nintendo are very good at for example the Nintendo switch was a very good idea and the wii having the first properly functional motion controls imagine Nintendo with even more innovations

itsyoboi73

Octane

@itsyoboi73 Those weren't good suggestions to be fair.

If certain games (and/or content) are still exclusive to their own systems, what's the point? People will still complain that Nintendo isn't bringing X or Y game over to PC, PS4, Xbox One. You suggested Zelda, but the big games are often the system sellers. If Nintendo brings all the big games over, who is seriously going to buy one of their systems just to play Kirby or Yoshi?

I don't think people care that much about extra content either.

And your idea about Nintendo forcing themselves to come up with other ways to sell their consoles. You do realise what you're saying, right? Why would they purposely make it difficult for themselves to sell their own consoles? That's not how a business works. They want to maximise profits, not invent hurdles they themselves need to overcome.

And no, I don't believe that releasing their games on other systems would lead to an increase in profits. Maybe an increase in game sales, but that doesn't weigh up against the loss of console sales, the decrease in userbase and the decrease in third party games bought on their systems as a result. And this is not even taking their upcoming paid online sub into account.

@itsyoboi73 Unless I'm misunderstanding something, it seems like your suggestion is for Nintendo to make it harder for themselves to sell consoles, so that they'll be forced to make a console that's even more innovative.

That doesn't seem like a good idea from a business point of view.
