Just wondering if anyone else here was a comic book fan/reader?

I've been reading comics since I was just a wee pupper myself (since around 96-97) And am always up for some fun comic book discussions and debates.

Anywho currently i'm enjoying DC's new Sandman Universe books, Grant Morrison's Green Lantern, Doomsday Clock and Shazam! from Geoff Johns and the new Young Justice that just launched this week. Also looking forward to "Second Coming" as Mark Russel is one of my favorite writers.

I also like the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Adventure Time and Steven Universe books from Boom Studios.

And then I really enjoy a lot of IDW Publishing's books like their TMNT, MLP, Transformers and JEM books. Also like the Sonic book they launched well enough, not quite as crazy over the top as Archie's (which I miss) but fun overall. Oh and the all-ages Spider-Man book has been fun so far.

From Image i've enjoyed Scales and Scoundrles and Unnatural alot so far. Blackbird is off to a decent start , Isola is a solid read and Man-Eaters is OK. Started Snot Girl and Paper Girls but fell behind, plan to catch-up someday though.

Other then that enjoying the Legend of Korra OGN's Dark Horse puts out from time to time and hoping the previously announced ARMS series actually starts this year.

Eagerly Awaiting Animal Crossing for Switch!

Not up to date and as thoroughly as I used to but every now and then I get the urge to splash out and buy a load of Marvel books, hence the user name.

I sold all my comics when I became a dad. I loved silver surfer, ghost rider, dredd, batman just to name a few. I was mostly into late 80s early 90s stuff. Heres a tragic true story my big bro had a 500+ collection of marvel golden age comics stored in boxes n my mum took them all n left them at the garbage dump. I think my bro still carries those scars.
PS: RIP Stan Lee!

Yes unfortunately my back log is huge... unfortunately about 4x the amount in that photo. All DC stuff. My games backlog is huge too. At least I keep on top of all the TV shows I watch....

See ya!

I forgot to recommend Goddess Mode! written by the super amazing Zoe Quinn, it's like a cyberpunk magical girl series, and it's so great.

I got my copies of #1 signed by Zoe, who is so awesome :3

@charliesmile haha I sure hope not....I'm making great strides through DC rebirth but as you probably know you're reading books that reference other books and then you read the back issues of those books and they reference other books and so forth. Some might think that DC know how to get people to buy comic books....my initial pull list only had flash and batman on it!

See ya!

Now it's batman, flash, titans, teen titans, superman, action comics, detective comics, deathstroke, justice League/dark/odyssey, adventures of the super sons,, raven(finishing this month) and doomsday clock (no spoilers, waiting for it all to come out). Not to mention one shots and cross overs!

See ya!

LadyCharlie

@gimmi_c yeah, I gave up on a lot of DC and Marvel, because I can't afford to follow all that continuity.

That's the eternal problem. Too many great comics and not enough time/$$$ to read or keep up with em all. I've considered weaning myself off floppies from the big two and just trade waiting all the DC & Marvel stuff but it's hard when your curiosity gets the better of you.😅

Used to read Simpsons Comics back in the day (R.I.P. Bongo 😭).

Own up to Joy-Con Drift, Nintendo. We all know it's your fault

LadyCharlie

@LilDoggo48 tbh, indies and creator owned series tell better stories anyway

Last "Comic" I read was probably the Dark Tower series.
Never got in to the Marvel/DC mags as they are not that available where I live.
Always liked the X-men cartoon from the 90s though.
And back when I was a kid I read all the Asterix and all the Titin Comics many times (as they had them in our library)
Also love Calvin and Hobbes, and Far Side (not really a comic but love them)

@Link-Hero
the inaccessible nature of Marvel and/or DC continuity is why I largely stepped away from mainstream superhero comics.

heck, if you're after superhero action, there's independent publishers that handle superhero stories way better.

I think the last time I read a comic was during Houston Comic-Con 2015. I got a Scribblenauts Comic there at only about two dollars. Pretty good read for a tie-in.
