@GuSilverFlame the anime is almost identical to the manga. It's up to you which format you prefer but I liked reading the manga more. Bakuman is an incredible series. It's funny, more realistic than I expected for this type or series, tension filled, and has memorable characters. It's one of my favorite manga.
Don't you think the manga ended too abruptly??? I talked to other Bakuman manga fans and we all love the ending... but man... it was just so sudden. Too many questions about the other characters are still there. Like what about Shujin? Kaya? Nanamine? Hattori? Aoki? We need a timeskip volume!!!! What do you think?

Yes! So I'm not the only one that thought that! SPOILERS
I liked the ending, it was good for me, but I agree it felt kind of abrupt. I would have liked to see more or at the very least finish it at the alter between those two. What the heck did happen to Nanamine, lol? I'd love to see an OVA at least with a time skip to see how everyone ended up.

Hahah the ending came so freaking fast.... I almost cried because it was so good. Bakuman is written so well and full of so much passion. Man, just amazing.
I can't believe Shonen Jump let Bakuman end without a timeskip volume. That really surprised me.
Don't you feel so connected to the characters? Every Bakuman fan says that.
wasn't the moral of the story in bakuman to end a manga were it feels right, not to drag out into unnecessary filler. I think the end fit the overall theme.
Yesterday, I finished watching Magical Warfare, and the ending was just awful. It made absolutely no sense and ended on such an abrupt note that no real resolution or conclusion came about, and the audience was left asking what had just happened. The anime also was pretty rushed, with what I believe was 6 light novels compressed into 12 episodes. The series really started out strong, and I really liked the characters, setting, and watching daily life at the magical academy was really fun and interesting to see (think of book 1 of Harry Potter), but that second half really made it go downhill. Despite it's faults, I still liked the series overall and am hoping for a season 2, but I don't think I would recommend it to anyone though.
On the bright side, I watched almost all of Silver Spoon 2 in one sitting. Silver Spoon has got to be one of my more favorite anime, and the lighthearted humor can always cheer you up, while the more serious topics really make you feel for the characters, especially Hachiken.

Silver Spoon was pretty great, but now that I've finished it I feel like it left a few too many plot threads dangling. I'm not even a fan of wrap-up endings, I think that there should be some stuff left hanging but...
I really liked the last episode though, I thought they ended with some really endearing scenes from the entire cast.
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
I watched the first episode of the new Kindaichi anime and my impressions are the same as what I had seen of the original series. That being that the animation and overall case are better and more refreshing than the majority of new Conan cases, but it's severely lacking in terms of interesting characters you want to follow.
Figured I should watch this since my signature website is only left working on a certain crossover with the two.
A second season of Oregairu (Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru/My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU) has been announced!!! Time for Hachiman to make his return.
No Game No Life was pretty awesome this week Btw, did anyone know that the voice actors for Sora and Shiro also voiced Sorata and Mashiro in Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo respectively?
WOW!!!!!!! this is definitely the year of second seasons for animes! O.O

A new J9 series is in the works I'll admit, I only know what the J9 series even is because Braiger and Baxinger are the only series /m/Subs gets out in a timely manner...
Just thought I'd point this little quote out:
Yamamoto also stated that one of the goals of the project is to revive the "original anime" in an age where it's more common to base anime off of manga, which is bad for anime scriptwriters. For this reason, he has started a "Practice Anime School" to train several new talents for the next generation of anime scriptwriters, using Ginga Jinpū Jinraiger as the teaching material.
Now that is ambitious. Or stupidly pretentious...I'm not sure which. It's a good goal nonetheless so either way, I'm hoping for the best.
EDIT:
Also, I watched the first episodes of Captain Earth and Knights of Sidonia:
Captain Earth Ep. 1 - "Inserting Libindo System"
"This will help you last a lot longer"
"Earth Engine expanded"
"Now engaging [Giant Feminine Robot that was shot through a giant space vagina]"
"Everything Will Be Obvious Soon"
This is going to be a fun ride.
Knights of Sidonia ep. 1 - Well, that was a pretty interesting first episode. The story poses a lot of questions that I'm interested in seeing answered while establishing the world, the characters, and WHY IS THERE A TALKING BEAR?! WHY IS THERE A THIRD GENDER?!
Seriously, these little details just railroad you out of nowhere and never really get touched upon. They're just there and you're supposed to accept it.
decided to watch Star Driver because I heard of it somewhere.....
but it uses some terms that are too "fabulous" I'm kinda afraid of the outcome........

Well, I've back on thursday I started and finished the Jaya Arc of One Piece. It was excellent. After putting it off for so long (other anime, one piece movies, specials, fillers, etc) I finally decided to start the Skypiea Saga. And boy, the Jaya Arc did not disappoint. I hope the actual Skypiea Arc will live up to the hype Jaya built up to it.
Last night I dived into Yorknew City in HxH and I'm about 6 episodes in.
Anime watching: Mobile Suit Gundam, Lupin III, & Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable
Reading: The Golden Compass
Space Dandy - This was one of the two episodes I actually caught during it's first run, but it was fun to watch it again.
Bleach - Wow, this one had some excellent action, and since this filler arc is finally over we can move on, so good news all around.
Naruto Shippuden - A dialogue heavy episode that was interesting to watch.
One Piece - Wow, what an emotional episode. After knowing what's happening now, I hope Franky gets to be the one to beat the tar out of the bad guy when the time comes.
Blue Exorcist - Looks like some of the people in charge aren't very nice people. Pretty good episode overall.
Black Lagoon - Looks like they're losing the battle. Really hope they blow the s*** out of their opponents.
They had a new inspirational montage this week.
Time to look up the next InuYasha on YouTube!
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
So, after having caught up on watching the new titles I thought I would share my first impressions with you all.
V8 Ninja's Spring 2014 First Impressions
Black Bullet (Episode 1): For some reason I saw a lot of people hyping this show up, mostly because two of the project leads worked on Monster together. While I've definitely heard good things about Monster, I've yet to see it and I highly doubted that this series would have the same tone. And sure enough, it appears that Black Bullet isn't going for a dark, super-serious tone. At least, the first episode never really gave me that impression. Yeah, there's some dark stuff here, but a majority of it seemed to be played up as comedic or not worth taking notice. I mean, the fact that the world is in a post-apocalyptic state seems to only be a nuisance to people more than anything else. Unless the second episode changes tone rapidly or heavily hints at that happening, this is probably going to be the first series I drop.
One Week Friends (Episode 1): I see massive potential for tons of feels in this series and so far that potential has not diminished. Other than the bizarre premise that I can dig while knowing that it doesn't make any sense (Selective memory loss? Really?), another thing I'm happy about is the aesthetic of the show. It just looks really warm and inviting. The only way I can see myself being disappointed by this show is if the episodes become extremely generic and cookie-cutter. If that doesn't happen however, I'm definitely on board for this show.
Captain Earth (Episode 2): As some people might have guessed from my earlier post about it, I'm finding this show to be really good. I mean, if you're into mecha you'll realize that there's absolutely nothing radically new or different in the set-up of Captain Earth. But it's just so good that the overused elements become extremely exciting. If that's not good direction, I don't know what is.
No Game No Life (Episode 1): Considering that the majority of the first episode was explanation/exposition, I honestly have no idea where this series wants to go or what style it'll take. I mean, there's hints of an overarching plot, I have no idea if we're getting a battle-of-the-week show or anything else. Otherwise the animation was pretty good barring the overuse of artificial bloom and I found the first episode to surpass my expectations when it came to being tasteful. Eh, I'll watch a couple more episodes to see where this show goes.
Brynhildr In The Darkness (Episode 1): Based on the previews and the fact that the original light novel was written by the same author who created Elfin Lied, I was expecting this series to be more horror-based. Bad stuff happened in the first episode, for sure, but there was nothing horrifying about those things and most of them were resolved peacefully and without conflict or loss. Of course, I'll give this series a couple more episodes to grab me and to firmly establish its tone, but if it doesn't go anywhere I'll probably drop it.
The Irregular At Magic High School (Episode 1): I expected this to be the “Big Hit” of the Spring 2014 season and it seems that my prediction is true, at least on other websites. As for my take on it so far, I'm not particularly impressed. In a way, almost everything feels half-hearted except for maybe two characters and some animation. To be honest, I was kind-of bored with the first episode. The only thing that I found interesting besides the concept of the overarching setting (magic is technology and vice-versa) was the sordid past that the main character had with his father/parents/whoever. But whatever, I'll give this series a couple of episodes to make more of an impression on me.
Chaika The Coffin Princess (Episode 1): There's a very strong “Classic Anime” vibe I'm getting from this show. Maybe it's the oddly low-detailed character designs, maybe it's how the show doesn't do much to ease the viewer into the world, or maybe it's how the show has tons of toned-down archetypes/tropes. Either way, I was surprisingly captivated by everything that happened and I'm totally down to watch the next episode.
Mekaku City Actors (Episode 2): I'll admit, I wasn't excited for this show. Having recently finished Bakemonogatari, I found myself disliking Akiyuki Shinbo's general style of direction. I feel that the man relies way too heavily on his own visual tropes and that he believes subtlety is akin to putting weird visuals in front of the viewer's face. But I gotta say, I'm really enjoying Mekaku City Actors. While Shinbo's tropes are still in the show, they seemed to be toned down a bit and, for the most part, there's been very little intricate or “Serious” scenes. Heck, I would go so far as to say that there's been very little story in the whole show so far. So basically, Shaft has been animating nonsense and I'm totally down with that. Also, that opening is killer. Even if you don't care about anything that Shaft or Shinbo do, I suggest checking out the opening.
Nanana's Buried Treasure (Episode 1): When I first read the premise of this show, I was immediately on board. The idea of a group of friends going out and finding treasure really appealed to me for some reason. And after having watched the first episode, I gotta say that I'm even more excited. The animation was great, the characters were all fun alongside interesting to follow, and the story was growing by the minute. Overall it was a great first episode and I can't wait to see more. Please don't mess this one up, A1 Pictures.
So yeah, it seems to be a good season for anime. Hopefully everything will improve or at least stay the same, unlike most of the shows of last season.
