Hey guys, I was just thinking - what video games do you think could make great anime? And perhaps what studio you'd like to see develop it. For example:
I think Metal Gear Solid could form a great anime or series of anime. I would love to see Madhouse or perhaps Ufotable(wishing haha) or Bones animate the series. I could see them adapting a single game to a 13-episode series, or try to cover the whole thing in a 24-52 episode series. (depending on how they'd do pacing) As cool of an idea as that would be though, I do think MGS's story is told brilliantly in video game format so idk if it would be truly worth it. As a fan though I'd gobble it up.

Any other games (Western or Japanese, doesn't matter) you think could be a great, hypothetical anime? (It doesn't have to be something that actually could happen or is even remotely possible, just go with what you'd like to see)

Anime watching: Mobile Suit Gundam, Lupin III, & Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable

None. At least, not a direct adaption. Maybe Fire Emblem if they can do a decent job with emphasising strategy during the battles?

I'm really surprised by what few decent Game adaptions we have, but most take at least a few liberties. Persona 4's anime seemed to be pretty good, for instance, by making subtle changes to the main character in order to give him a set personality, while KanColle has been surprisingly decent for a show that was clearly intended to be pure fanservice, and that's based on a game that didn't even really have a story.

Tales of the Abyss wins out as the best game adaption I've encountered, though, since it basically just took the cutscenes and filled in the rest with some well-animated fight scenes and character moments that I was afraid would be lost in the transition.

Not related (at least for now) that much to the anime or manga, but as probably some of you already know - Steins;Gate Zero was announced yesterday as a sequel to the original visual novel. What can I say more, I'm super excited! Check out the teaser with English subtitles along with some info regarding the plot: https://www.telltalegames.com/community/discussion/93569/stei... . I still haven't bought the first one. There's going to be a huge list of VNs that I'm going to need to buy now. Well, considering most VNs series that have a true ending usually opens up for a sequel.

Toonami Saturday night!

DBZ Kai - After Vegeta is spared, our heroes have a somber reunion as they retrieve their fallen. However, there just may be hope yet...

Kill la Kill - During the hectic action of the "election", the head of the disciplinary board reveals the power of his Goku Uniform, and Glenn Quagmire would approve...

Sword Art Online II - Things are off to an interesting start. Virtual reality games are flourishing like never before as the kinks in the previous system (you know, that they can be rigged to kill people...) all being worked out, or so it seems. In the new game, Gun Gale Online, a mysterious figure called "Death Gun" has seemed to gain the ability to actually kill people from within the game (without their deaths seeming to be related to the VR gear), and is targeting high level competitive players. With his experience in surviving literal life & death games, Kirito is recruited to dive in and get to the bottom of it all. The animation is absolutely stunning as always.

InuYasha: the Final Act - Drawn into Naraku's trap, Kagome finds herself facing off against a possessed priestess whose power rivals that of Kikyo. Without anyone around to help her out (locked out by the priestess' barrier) she must find a way to defeat the priestess without killing her (by selfishly killing the priestess as a demon to save her own life, Kagome's powers would weaken and be corrupted, allowing Naraku to possess her). Luckily she develops a new ability which allows her to target evil directly, meaning her arrows will now teleport straight to the source (bypassing the bodies of any innocent people being possessed). Despite this new ability, it's been revealed that her true power lies yet uncovered, sealed away by someone, or something...

Naruto Shippuden - The gang is all split up, and while Sai managed to escape the onslaught of the terrain itself, he and Sakura find themselves at odds with a giant spider (Naraku! What are you doing here?). Also, Naruto has to deal with the vicious attack of the villainous... "cougar"?

One Piece - As our crew continues their various confrontations, our inept villain mistakingly invokes the "Buster Call", spelling certain doom for the island and everyone on it. Now our heroes are pressured even more to get the job done, and the island is in a frenzy.

Switch - Blade Strangers

I keep meaning to watch that, but I hear the ending is terrible, at least compared to the manga, if not just in general. Like, IIRC, you just made everything that happened pointless bad <-- not sure if I'm right but I'm putting a spoiler just in case.

I see I forgot to mention that I found out D-Frag! Was not quite what I thought it was - I got it confused with Seitokai Yakuindomo (that awful to spell, btw), a terrible ecchi comedy I caught an episode of around January 2014.

D-Frag!, on the otherhand, looks and sounds like a comedy anime I could really get into. I meant to give it a shot today, but I ended up spending most of my day doing spring cleaning. :X

Glad to see someone is still watching Toonami. I haven't watched it in a few months, and my friends sadly bailed out on it too.

That's too bad. While the block is shorter, it's premiering lineup is the best it's ever been since the revival, IMO.

The only show premiering new episodes that I'm not loving is Naruto Shippuden, and even that's not bad (it's just kind of "there"). Even One Piece has really, really grown on me since it first started.

I know quite a few people who like Seitokai Yakuindomo, but I don't see the appeal. It's just a harem comedy with a ton of dirty jokes and innuendos. I think the only time I laughed was when Suzu called herself short, then realized she just offended herself, much to her own chagrin.

As for D-Frag! I didn't really like it. The protagonist mainly plays the straight man throughout the series and yells on a constant basis, making punch lines, as the others destroy his sanity with their incredulous logic.

One of the new characters they introduced halfway through the season was amazingly more annoying and unlikable compared to all of the characters shown so far. Here's a short clip that pretty much sums up everything I disliked about D-Frag! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cy29dqj0Ic

For me, it's just that Toonami hasn't had that killer app that makes me want to watch Toonami. I'm not saying DBZ Kai, Kill La Kill, or One Piece are bad shows, it's just that those shows are shows that I can watch at anytime through means of DVD'S, streaming, or illegal ways (don't support that third option though!).

With Space Dandy, I watched and enjoyed it because it premiered on Toonami. There was no other way to watch it anywhere else. But with the other shows on the lineup, I can watch them at anytime (like I said earlier) and not have to wait 1 week for an episode.

Now, I'm not saying Toonami is terrible. And I can understand that hey, some people might not have the money to buy the DVD's, or don't have internet access and streaming sites, so Toonami is something that caters to that demographic.

So if you support Toonami, then power to you. I'll just wait till they add something I haven't seen (and yes I do know they added SAO2, but I wasn't a big fan of the first season).

I can understand that, I suppose.

For me, DBZ is my most nostalgic anime, so I'll happily watch Kai, even if I've seen it before. Kill la Kill is unadulterated awesome (just like Gurren Lagann). I really liked the first SAO, so I was looking forward to SAOII (and it seems promising so far). InuYasha is my favorite anime of all time, so not only do I never tire of it, I'm ecstatic to see TFA on Toonami (and it's the first time I've seen it dubbed). Naruto is the only one I'm not loving, but it's still okay. One Piece has really grown on me, and is simple fun.

Walking Dead is done for the season tonight, and then next week F/SN picks up again. Nice when my viewing schedule works out like that. Next month there's Daredevil and Game of Thrones too though. Probably back to watching almost no anime.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

I can't understand how that is anything but hilarious. Then again, I'm used to being the only sane person in a room full of crazies, so maybe it's just something I can more easily relate to...

All good comedy needs a great straight man. Some of the most gut-busting hilarious moments in Gintama were Shinpachi reacting to stuff.

Laughed until I cried.

I wouldn't know since I hardly saw any Scooby Doo episodes with Scrappy Doo in them, but I'm going to say yes.
