@Grumblevolcano I think Nintendo has already shown what it will be using to launch alongside the online subscription service - Super Smash Bros. I am betting that Nintendo are going to put everything into that one game this holiday.

@Grumblevolcano My guess is Smash will be September, Yoshi will be October and Fire Emblems will take the same spot as Xenoblade Chronicles 2 did last year, start of December. November will be again left available for third parties.

@Buizel Yeah, I guess it all depends on what you like and/or what your friends play. And for me personally, I have more than enough diversity between Nintendo and Microsoft, both with its exclusive and third party titles, and I only buy one console at a time as well, so say every 2 - 3 years, and the deciding factors are largely the ones I just mentioned. And buying an Xbox One is also easier to decide about if you already have an Xbox 360 and a still active Live Gold subscription. Been saving up those free Xbox One games before I finally had the reserves to buy the console...
@Orin41 You don't have to persuade me about the Switch being a console. I'm already there with you...
@link3710 Don't you have any head phones you can plug in? Without sound you're missing quite a bit of info. The game with the jet pack you mentioned is Crackdown 3. It promises a completely open and completely destructible world. Something that has never been done before, on that scale. And yeah, those numbers again, like most of you that I'm now responding to, are mentioning in one way or the other. I'm all about quality, not about quantity. I can't play 100 games or more, so what use is it to me that the other consoles have that many or more games?
Between my work and my private life, I mostly only have a part of the weekend to play games, so a couple of games per month is more than enough for me. Quantity is highly overrated in my humble opinion...
As far as games are concerned: most people asked about what exclusives there are on Xbox, aren't very original and can only come up with Halo, Gears of War and Forza, nine out of ten times. No one knows about or mentions Fable 4, State of Decay 2, Crackdown 3, the new upcoming Mech Assault game, a new Perfect Dark, Osiris, Dark Light, Ashen, The Darwin Project, Black Desert Online, The Last Knight and Strange Brigade, to name a couple. Yeah... not enough exclusives...
But like the guy in the video says: "gamers put a lot, and maybe too much emphasis on exclusives to validate their console choice", and I couldn't agree more.
For me, the most logical choice is about the total package, NOT just about one aspect, and in that respect, Microsoft wins from both Sony and Nintendo, because besides their smaller exclusive game library, the rest of their service and options are some of the best, if not THE best around. And for the exclusives that I want, I will always have Nintendo...
@Octane Yeah, I knew that you were kidding. My reply was also only half serious, hence the smiley...
@Haru17 There are WAY too few game predictions on your Microsoft list. This video predicts quite a few more:
@FragRed That's a point, I've been assuming Yoshi is August but October would also fit given how Nintendo decided to release Woolly World in NA that month but I definitely agree with your predictions for Smash and Fire Emblem release months.
@Grumblevolcano Personally, I think it was a mistake having Yoshi be a holiday release game. It should have been held back until March or April 2019, the same time period Kirby was released in. I’m not sure how much of a system seller Yoshi really is, especially when Nintendo keep talking about wanting to shift 20 million additional consoles.

@FragRed The most suitable platformer for holiday system seller status would've been either a port of one of the Wii U Mario platformers (Super Mario Maker, 3D World, NSMBU + NSLU) or a Super Mario Maker sequel.
@Grumblevolcano I totally agree, and with this year any 2D platformer without a name like Mario is going to struggle more than normal due to the fact everyone is cramming their games into the September and October months to avoid Red Dead Redemption 2.

But will Red Dead Redemption 2 impact sales on a platform it isnt on?
Heres the thibg. Games are moving ahead of Wild West GTA Online so that they dont end up competing with it on PS4 and Xbox One.
But on Switch, low and behold, there is none of that. The platform wont suffer the impact of RDR2(3) because its not there.
We all know some of those September games will just bomb especially around Spiderman on PS4 and the inevitable Forza on Xbox.
On Switch? Smash in September. October is seemingly a wasteland.
Honestly Nintendo could throw out a first party game the same day as GTA Cowboy and be fine. They managed that last year releasing Odyssey the same day as Assassins Creed and frankly people would walk out of a store with both.
Same could happen this year. Its only a detriment on the platforms that have the game, because then all the other games are bunching up and smothering each other just to avoid ONE THING.

@YummyHappyPills It doesn’t matter whether it’s on the same platform or not, it’s still in competition. That’s like saying Sony’s first party games aren’t competing with Microsoft’s first party games because they’re not on the same platform. But they are. They are competing on the understanding that most people only have so much spending money and will buy one game. And as the majority of Switch owners also have other systems, Nintendo is straight up competing to get those gamers to buy their game over a game on whatever other console they own.
And of course everyone is bunching up, even smothering themselves to avoid one game. It’s not just one thing as you put it. It’s a massively hyped game by Rockstar. These are the people who currently have the biggest selling piece of entertainment in history. They are also the very people that when GTA V launched, even film studios were forced to delay or bring forward movie release dates - an area of entertainment that normally doesn’t compete with games for time and money. Yet that’s how scared they were. So naturally any new game by Rockstar will forever create this scenario.

@FragRed I agree that RDR2 will affect Switch game sales but not in the way you're suggesting, rather more like "Not going to buy a Switch because it doesn't have RDR2."
But will it impact Switch games in timing in the same way it is affecting other games on other systems? No.
There is competition yes. I understand the basics of a microeconomy. But the Switch is in less direct competition by not having RDR3 on it, as such game developers have less to worry about releasing in October.
Do they still need to worry? Yes. But the Switch wont be completely devoid of purchases like the others because of Rockstar because purchases on the Switch itself wont be going to Rockstar, but other games.
It will still have an impact but less than that on other systems. Switch games wont be sharing eShop space with a huge ad from Rockstar.

The thing that will be in more competition with Nintendo is the Spyro trilogy remaster.
At least in my gaming habits, I buy things based on genre variety. So in the holiday period, I'll want a serious thing like Red Dead 2 and I'll want a fun light-hearted thing, which will almost definitely end up being Spyro. If Spyro wasn't coming out at that point, I'd look to Nintendo for that niche.
Well, my wallet is already gonna get beaten by Smash. And a whole host of other games. Lol...
Honestly I have my wishes on what could be announced at E3, but I'll be real with you guys, no matter what gets announced I'm gonna go broke. They can just announce Smash and Fire Emblem and I'll still go broke because my budget isn't very big.
Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill
I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!
Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
@Orin41 Well, you'll find out soon enough...
And welcome to the community. You already have two things going for you: Nintendo and comics, so there's that.
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@ThanosReXXX Ah okay thanks! Just listened to it now that I'm back home from traveling. Perfect Dark is definitely amazing, and a return for Fable IV is definitely good news. Of course, both of those and Crackdown are coming to PC, so still no interest from me in getting an Xbox One. In fact, every game I looked up in that video seems to be coming to PC. Which brings me back to my original point, if you have a PC, there's no exclusives worth getting the XB1 for. If you're a console gamer there definitely is, but as a PC gamer it offers nothing over my rig, unlike Switch and PS4. Still, got some new games on my list to be excited for, so thanks!
@NEStalgia Whààààààt?? Total blasphemy, dude. Rockstar games are like... you know, so totally awesome, man. Really adult and all with all the undercover criminal stuff, shooting and car stealing, hooker bashing and drug dealing...
On a serious note, though: I do like my Western/cowboy games, so I most certainly wouldn't mind a Red Dead Redemption game landing on a Nintendo platform. And the graphics thing was really over-doing it a bit, don't you think? RDR actually looked really good, and so did GTAV.
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@NEStalgia Same here, I liked San Andreas back in the day though. I feel like I'm the only one not massively hyped for Red Dead Redemption. Maybe it's the open world fatigue though...
I prefer sci-fi, post-apocalyptic or fantasy games. Heck, Spider-Man is way up on my priority list too. But the wild west theme? I guess it can be interesting, but the Red Dead trailers haven't done anything for me so far.
@link3710 But who's to say that you HAVE to play them on PC? Just because you CAN, that's no reason whatsoever for me to not buy the console. A console is WAY more convenient, and cheaper, and PC obviously doesn't have backward compatibility with the two previous gen Xbox titles, nor does it have the free game service and Game Pass.
And the games also being on PC does STILL not take away from them being exclusive to a Microsoft platform, so you still can't play them on a PS4 or a Switch.
And my PC isn't up to snuff where it concerns being able to play current gen games, and I suspect a lot of people are in the same boat as me, so the only option left is the console.
But ultimately, it's up to all of our own preferences, so if you rather not play these games on a console, then fair enough. And you're welcome...
