Guys I haven't missed out on anything. I still play All the Mario, Metroid games etc. I prefer 3rd Party games such as Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, etc. I just like games that are outside the normal. My opinion isn't wrong as no opinion is ever wrong. It's just not the normal opinion of the site. WaveRace64 is one of my Most Treasured games.... oh and I have tons of Nintendo games, only been playing Nintendo for over 20 years.

I love advanced wars, almost as much as I love Feenie. Wish they make a Wii release.

@slapshot: i know, bro. nobody's picking on you (er... at least i'm not). the missing out thing was a joke. you said you'd played them all. i'm just giving you a hard time because you're one of about 6 people worldwide with that list.

@Kid_A: i love Punch-Out!! i got myself addicted a couple weeks back, and i'm still playing it. i didn't put it in my list, though, because it's the first that downloaded, and i haven't played any others, so, i can't really say it's my favorite SERIES... one of my favorite Nintendo games, though.

@Digiki... All good, I did think you were serious, but no offense taken lol. I was actually pretty startled that I got negative feedback on my choices as I did think for quite a bit before I posted my list, I started off with some Nintendo imports on it but took them off, had Punch out on there and took it off lol. I like So Many games across so many genres and so many companies its really tough to pick favorites. I will pull my N64 out quite regurally just to play WaveRace, 1080 and Mario 64 though. I remember the commercials on TV for WaveRace64 like it was yesterday and me and my cousin renting it EVERY Weekend and beating it over and over and we at one time had ALL the Fastest Laps on Every Cartrige that that Blockbuster had. Good Times.... Great Times actually.

This topic idea is great it's just the topic name isn't finish it should be "The Top 5 Nintendo Franchise" ah well but still great idea anyway instead of giving my Top 5 i'll post my Top 10 instead (why cause Nintendo have a AAA Library of games that's why). Anyway here's my list enjoy:

10. Fire Emblem Series

Without question The first Fire Emblem game was the founding game for the genre Tactical RPG, and before 2003 the series was a japan only series since most Japanese view the outside world have different taste in games or highly praised/ beloved franchise like Final Fantasy and Pokemon can only exist, but thanks to Super Smash Bros Melee both North America and Europe became interested in this game and thanks to the success of the seventh installment the Fire Emblem series finally became a worldwide success and will continue to be released for a worldwide audience making the Fire Emblem series 10th best Nintendo Franchise (according to me anyway).

9. Golden Sun Series

After a success full 80's and 90's era Nintendo had a rough start in the 6th generation luckily Nintendo had acquired Camelot Software one of the most brilliant group of developers of the video game industry and there acquired proved to be winner in 2001 with the release of Golden Sun. It's hard to say what so many times have been said, Perfect scores and a Great Story comments are just the flavor of a perfect ice cream in other words unless you play or tried the series you already know what i'm talking about and if you don't know go hunt these titles down now it's worthed both Golden Sun and Golden Sun:The Lost Age broke the standard in RPG and set the bar higher for how a RPG should be made and with Golden Sun DS coming soon it's a better time then never to hunt the first 2 games before waiting to see the review since i can guaranteed it will be a 10 out of 10.

8. Pikmin Series

Even though Nintendo has many success full Game Series / Franchises it's shocking that only a few aka 1 million or less gamers have ever played Pikmin and even fewer on Pikmin 2. The Pikmin series is another example of Nintendo's Policy and Legacy aka Innovation, before Pikmin RTS where mostly similar style with Tactical RPG in other words both style was from a bird's eye view angle after Pikmin however the RTS genre got a real taste in action oriented style another example of Nintendo EAD History on making old Formula completely new again. Pikmin itself is different from any other sorts of RTS and till this day i believe only Little King Story came close as a clone or similar style as Pikmin (you decide if it's a clone or not). Pikmin is also known for great relaxing music one of my personal favorite music in Brawl itself happens to be Forest Of Hope a very relaxing and enjoyable music. Pikmin is also part of the New Play Control series the exception of US region both Pikmin 1 and 2 are available. In the US only the Pikmin 1 is available as a New Play Control game, if anyone here wants to play Pikmin 2 (if your in the US region like me) go hunt down a used copy of the Gamecube version either way it's same game but with non wide screen support and with different controls.

Is the series over?

While it has been almost 6 Years now since Pikmin 2 was originally released on the Gamecube and while the New Play Control series had moddist sales at best, however according to various website Miyamoto did confirm it's still in development aka Pikmin 3 so hopefully at E3 2010 will have new game in the probably the most innovative RTS game ever.

7. Kirby Series

Kirby has been around since the early 90's, it's also one of best platform game ever made, Kirby himself is unique i mean this guy can have power he wants by just eating. over the years however Kirby has been ignoring the 3D game idea, which is a shame since i believe in the right developers hands can make a AAA game out of it. I rarely admitted but Kirby 2D Platform games i enjoyed more then the Mario 2D Platform games, this info alone might shocked some of you since Super Mario Bros series has set the standard in 2D Platform genre. Despite that Kirby has never had a true 3D Platform game even though there's 2 different 3D Kirby released on N64 and Gamecube aka Kirby 64 the underrated 2.5D game and Air Ride the decent mission / racing game and compare to Mario, Kirby Games have least "bad" / shovel game if it's compared that is. And just like Pikmin 3, i hope Nintendo announced a true 3D platform Kirby game at E3 2010.

6. Animal Crossing Series

The Animal Crossing series had a huge success when it's debut on the N64 and a huge success when it was re-released on the Gamecube in both US and EU. I admit i bought Animal Crossing after 2 years it was released since always thought i never like Sim games like The Sims but Animal Crossing proved that you don't need boring complicated relationship built up to enjoy a Sim game in fact Animal Crossing goes back to the basic and built up a unique sort a community style built up such as trading furniture, selling Fruit or Fish built up a community with different animals is surprisingly fun and getting Nintendo like items is a bonus and a plus. Even though most of what i'm saying or typing in this case doesn't make sense well i played Animal Crossing Wild World for more then 6 straight month's and other 6 month's after still was playing only a few game series had a huge replay value like Mario Kart or Pokemon that let me play for over a year in real life and still enjoy a title. For those hoe hate Sim games (Sim=Simulation is the full word if you where wandering what it means) i still encouraged you to tried Animal Crossing i mean if it weren't for a friend renting the game i never would have touch the series, after all i was once a hater of the genre till a tried it back in late 2003 after just playing it a few hours i was hocked in the experience and i never said a bad thing to Sim game since then. Even though Animal Crossing City Folk is a minor upgrade to the series it's still fun to play for about a few hours and with DLC added to the game makes it even more worth while to play it.

Fun fact: There was actually an animated movie based on Animal Crossing Wild World i believe there's a an-dubbed version on Youtube (so i heard).

5. Mario Series

I'll bet some of you thought it would put the Mario series at #1 well i'll admit if you had asked me a few years back then yes i would have put at number #1, however as years goes by i had the opportunity to tried and play many other games made by Nintendo and other companies and even though is the list for the top 10 Nintendo Franchise / Series, The Mario series is also one of my favorite overall series of Video games in general. Anyway since where talking about Mario the biggest Gaming Franchise i decided to only talk to they key 2D series, 3D series, RPG and Mario Kart even do the Mario Sports games, Party games and other Mario spin-off are also fantastic, anyway Mario has been Nintendo's main mascot for over 25 years and i''l admit i played every game since Super Mario Bros in their order except for Donkey Kong and Mario Bros Arcade i played years later when it was re-released with other games (aka the Super Mario Advance and with Donkey Kong 64 "Spoilers"). With every game Mario 2D Platform series has proven from 80's to early 90's as the best 2D platform (only Kirby in my opinion topped it) and With Mario Kart aka Super Mario Kart gave the whole obsession to racing a whole new meaning yes Super Mario Kart was so great it not only became the third best selling SNES game ever it also became the first Racing game to be timeless and classic heck just download it from Virtual Console and you will see the magic and unique of it all and when the N64 debut Super Mario 64 set the standard for 3D platform games and till this day no one only Nintendo could have released (in my opinion again) the best 3D Platform game Super Mario Galaxy and not only did Mario have proven to be the greatest Platform series in both 2D and 3D it also have the best Spin-offs as well most notably Mario Kart series and Mario RPG series yes even in the RPG realm Mario have achieve greatness in fact the following 4 series after Mario are absolute master pieces of a Franchise / Series.

Fun Fact: Mario Kart has it's own Top 10 list on Gametrailers.com

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=513295591262720830#

4. Pokemon Series

Mario may be the Top ranked Best Selling Franchise of the entire Video Game Industry but Pokemon is the best Selling Franchise of the Last Decade and off all the Gaming series could top Mario as the absolute Top selling franchise even though there still about 40 million behind the fact that Pokemon Reached 200 Million (The second Video Game series that reached this number) alot faster then any other Video Game Franchise also Pokemon Revolutionized the RPG genre like no other Gaming series has done before basicly without Pokemon the RPG genre couldn't be as big as big as today in fact Pokemon is the only RPG genre i can think of that has a huge Multiplayer Community that only Mario Kart can rival, plus with the option to customized your own team and constantly train various way to improve your Pokemon stats and with updated rules in each generation made the whole Pokemon formula a perfect package, it was Pokemon that introduced Multiplayer to a RPG genre that was competitive, also over the Years Pokemon had great spin-off just like Mario however never reached a Mario Kart level spin-off even so Pokemon Trading Card (In my opinion) had the same awesome gameplay as the main series and unlike Kirby, there has been several decent but few Great 3D Pokemon games, Pokemon Stadium 2 still is the best 3D Pokemon game and Pokemon Gold and Silver version is still the best version which explain why Heartgold and Soulsilver is the most wanted and greatest release of the entire franchise. The Pokemon Franchise was also able to branch out into toys, movies and even a success full Anime series which Mario was unable to grasp.

Fun Fact: There has been more Pokemon Spin-off games then Mario Spin-off games in 2009.

3. The Legend Of Zelda Series.

While i don't agree with any gaming website (not 100% anyway) i do agree that The Zelda series is one the greatest Video Franchises and the fact that The Legend Of Zelda Twilight Princess has increased Zelda's states as one of the greatest Video Game achievements in terms of Gameplay, i'l also like that the fact each Zelda Game when it's released on a Nintendo Home Console / Handheld system get's applaud like no other video game series, it's also the only video game series i can think of to exceed all expectation with each new installment even though the series doesn't have as many spin-offs like Mario and Pokemon it's Main series is what drives this series in such a high demand and respect by gamers and critics alike.

2. Metroid series

Aldo it's not underrated, it is under sold (if that's even a word) what i mean is Metroid is basicly the most impressive series Nintendo has ever made (only one franchise i can think of tops it). Not only does Metroid has only AAA games under his wing, the series has no crap or bad or shovelware game, even Prime Pinball was a blast to play. The series has also had a impressive installments with each game what i mean is every Metroid game exceed my expectation to even exceed Zelda's performance and i'll admit before Metroid Prime i had never tried the series just to find out Nintendo had an even bigger more impressive series then The Legend Of Zelda series alone said chills down my throat, in fact before Metroid Prime i didn't even like First Person games and till this day there has been only two First Person games i like Portal and Metroid Prime both are the only ones as well that not listed as First Person Shooter, Metroid Prime = First Person Adventure, Portal First Person Puzzle and i don't mind telling you this either when i played both Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion for the first time (first on the Wii VC and the other i hunt down on GBA) it just blow my mine of how Perfect those games where i mean off all my years of playing video games i never thought someone could make a Platform / Shooter this amazing, which makes Metroid Other M the most anticipated Metroid game ever with hopes of exceeding all expectation.

1. Star Fox series

Yes your eyes is working fine off all the Nintendo Franchise / Series, Star Fox is not only Favorite Nintendo series but also my personal favorite in general each game exceed my expectation with unique gameplay and Storytelling it's also one of few series to be absolute straight forward ever since i played Star Fox 64 on the Nintendo 64 i was amazed of how perfect the single player and multiplayer is same goes for Star Fox Assault despite some claimed it's decent well i say it's a perfect game both Single player and Multiplayer and even though Star Fox Adventures Dinosaur Planet isn't the Star Fox sequel we expected from the first game it was still one of the most unexpected AAA sequel of any Video Game Franchise and Star Fox Command waw i played it that game over and over again since the day i got it all the multipull endings as well as Online Multiplayer made this game a blast to play all the time even now i gave it a go again just for the thrill. The only thing that disappoint me is that there isn't a Wii Version of the Series and with the Huge improvement of the online multiplayer in Mario Kart Wii compared to Mario Kart DS is the sole reason why i want this game to be made on the Wii as soon as possible.

Heck i even made an entire topic for Star Fox to appear on the Wii:

https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/wii/why_nintendo_should_co...

Anyway that's my list i hope you enjoy it as much i like to type it.

Does something else = Advance Wars, Earthbound (Mother), Excitebike, Donkey Kong, Punch-Out!, Tetris, Duck Hunt, Kirby, Pilotwings, Wave Race, 1080° Snowboarding, Wario-related series, Golden Sun, or Starfy? Those are the only series I can think of that you didn't mention that are Nintendo or generally associated with Nintendo, lol. Chibi-Robo was awesome, it's the only GCN game I want as a New Play Control remake.

1. Fire Emblem I love the strategy, I love the characters and I love being able to replay the games over and over.
2. Super Smash Bros. Probably the best party game series ever made.
3. The Legend of Zelda Great adventure series that just feels good to play.
4. Paper Mario Funniest RPG series I've ever played with some great writing and a mostly fantastic combat system.
5. Pokemon It's pretty much the same game every time, but the concept is brilliant enough to keep playing.

Mario Bros, Pikmin, Kirby, Animal Crossing, Wario Land and Wario Ware all deserve to be on my list as well, but a top 5 only has 5 spots.

Reala

1-Zelda
2-Mario RPG
3-Wario Land
4-Mario platformers, esp 3D

can't think of a fifth really, haven't played Pikmin, also not a fan of racers or shooters, only Kirby game I played was 64, so can't comment on it as a series.

Reala

SonicMaster

1. Pokemon
2. Kirby
3. Smash Bros.
I only have a top 3.

SonicMaster

Chrono_Cross

1: Metroid
2: Mario
3: Animal Crossing
4: Mario Kart Series
5: Smash Series

Otherwise the runner-ups are Zelda, F-Zero, and DK.

Just for you.
