Has anybody else out there started Spirit Tracks, yet finds themselves putting it on hold (possible permanent hold?) Im a little dissillusioned with the Zelda franchise. Its more of the same. I started playing when i was a kid on the nes and have really enjoyed the leaps and bounds that theyve crossed in the past when it comes to innovation and new ideas for puzzles and epic adventure. I even LOVED the second installment "The Adventures of Link" I was such a dork that I even took my Instructions book from the box and displayed it on my desk at school because I was so proud/happy that I got it for christmas. I remember waking up at 4 am because my mom said if I woke up before them i could open up one present of my choosing.. And I knew that the 5inch x 7inch x .75 inch present was. When you squeeze it the middle was rock solid but the edges had air and you knew.. So i slid out the cartriges which was golden, much like my profile icon character. That metalic gold paint covered the game and the christmas tree lights of red, gree, blue, yellow all reflected off of it so magnificently..
so, basically you are getting the point. Zelda was magical for alittle kid. But now that im in my 30's, I started playing this Spirit Track, and the ds cart is grey like all others. And, its bascially Phantom Hourglass part 2!!! .. nothing new.. yet all the magazines and rating charts give it 8 or 9 out of 10.. I unlocked 3/4 of the map and I know that I still have a long journey ahead of me.. but I dont really care. I mean, Zelda is with me as a spirit.. and the whole Goal of getting to her is not there albeit there is a new quest .. but much weaker thus far.
So, I would like to not pout alone. If anyone else feels what I feel, and finds more satisfaction from a quick round of Pinball , please let me know.
I am also interested in meeting others who liked the Adventures of Link.
Nope. I thought Spirit Tracks was fresh and original, and it's one of my all time favorite Zelda games. But you have to give it some time--it starts out slow. Give it another shot.

I greatly enjoyed the game so far, but I'm still only about halfway through. I guess I also put it on hold, but not for a lack of interest, just more due to not playing the DSi for a long session like that. Normally I pick up the system just to play quick DSiWare games, and I don't generally play it in bed now either (which would be the best time for a longer session), because I'm typically reading instead. But I'll get around to resuming it soon.

Your favorite? wow.. okay well maybe ill give it another shot..
I said one of my favorites. But this is one of those games (much like Adventures of Link--which I do like, btw--Wind Waker, and Majora's Mask) that is probably going to polarize Zelda fans. The game really does pick of steam, however, so I'd suggest giving it another shot. How far did you get?

I just unlocked the bottom right corner of the map. and I entered the area but havnt moved forward with any thing in that area yet.. so maybe 2-4 hours of play? So far all boss battles were very easy too. hmm
I didn't finish it. I'm at the end of the game, and it is definitely "onhold." Spirit Tracks just couldn't hold my interest, which is sad because I enjoyed Phantom Hourglass so much. The train travel was linear, repetitive, and annoying. The "puzzles" in the dungeons felt easy-mode (especially since the game holds your hand so much), and the cast of characters couldn't compete with PH's.
It wasn't a terrible game, but it really wasn't that great either.

Beating all the sidequests can take ages, not counting you have to collect rupees, bunnies, and a LOT more. There's always something to do in that game.

ähm dito? ... it just couldn't hold my interest/attention ... but i'll get through it one day...

and nowadays? being an adult a game has to offer darkness, blood and simple shooting gameplay?
everyone might have his own opinion, but i'm personally bored of those pseudo-hardcore games on my ps3/360 like gears oder god of war... being 27 doesn't mean a don't care about gameplay and soul in games anymore, at least there's lots of blood and an angry looking hero ^^

ain't that the truth. I haven't gotten this much gameplay out of a Zelda since Wind Waker

I thought its a great game, and some of the puzzles were pretty challenging, but not impossible. Its my 5th favorite Zelda game as of now, but I do agree the train sections get annoying.
I have to agree. Maybe it's because I expect a lot from Zelda games, but Spirit Tracks just felt average and unoriginal.... its like they just took Phantom Hourglass and replaced the boat with a train. I still enjoyed the game / beat it, I just didn't think that it was anything special.

I was an adult when I first played Wind Waker, that experience was magical for me, brought back memories of Majora's Mask in high school and Ocarina of Time in middle school.
Personally Spirit Tracks is my second or third favorite Zelda, but it's not cause it's bad (cause it's awesome) it's just that Twilight Princess and Wind Waker are so awesome. And yes, this game is WAY better than Phantom Hourglass. I've only really put it on hold once and it was maybe for a week cause I was playing it a lot and I didn't want to beat it too fast.
I love Spirit Tracks, but Phantom Hourglass is definitely superior in my opinion. Although I hope in the next installment (If there will be one) they will get rid of vehicular travels. I like being able to set out walking and getting to go anywhere on the map without having to enter a boat or a train.
