-Voice chat built in like Wii Speak just that it's built in and you can use headphones and all that junk. -Make good use of 3D -Backward compatible with DS games. -Decent camera

IF that mock up and details are indeed true, viewing them today would spoil the surprise of the announcement at E3. Some may not believe that is spoiling anything, but better to warn than to not care at all.
That Kotaku article has me very excited. The one thing I really wanted (and posted earlier in this thread) was to have 3D camera capabilities, by adding two inner-facing cameras a few inches apart, and thereby letting one capture and view fully 3D images. That would be the first device on the market to capture and display photographs in 3D, all on one device. For someone like myself who has an interest in the history of 3D photography, that's a wonderful thing to think of. Kotaku's info suggests that the 3D camera may indeed be a part of the design.
It would also help with head-tracking if you have 2 inner-facing cameras, and if you combined enhanced head-tracking with 3D, you could have unbelievable results, allowing the player to feel like he or she is really peering into a little 3D world behind the screen.
We'll see what's true and what isn't, but Kotaku's information makes sense on many levels, more so than anything I've yet read about purported specs or features.

@Warioswoods Actually, the first thing I thought of when reading that article was your suggestion of a 3D camera. The only thing I dislike about Kotaku's mock-up is the excessively large screen. If the actual 3DS is scaled down a little to make it more proportional, I think it would look better, but it could work. I really can't wait for Tuesday; I haven't been this excited since the announcement of the DS.
Yeah, I think that their mock-up design is likely to be very wrong, but I hope that the information on features is correct. As for the looks, I'd expect a recognizable DS clamshell, but with some kind of entirely new aesthetic, like perhaps a very different feeling material (although I love the matte finish on the DSi).
My crazy hope is that its slidable so that the large screen is on the top and has some sort of touch screen. That way you could potentially access some small games/media player/etc... without having to slide it open. This could really help with pick up on play and accessibility more like Apple's consoles, while still offering the sliding with buttons and second screen for more serious games.
Yeah I saw the article myself. I dunno, the I find the two different screen sizes awkward, and what is that above the D-pad? Other than that, I think I am somewhat impressed, I just want to see how the thing works first. Could this thing be a mock up?
My predictions: Top and bottom screen will touch. No longer a gap but a line to fold it with a dot for a camera in the center. Only top screen will be 3D capable. New Mario Bros 3DS will ship on launch with the 3DS Wont be called 3DS maybe TDS? or TS.. Everyone will want one but within a year, the novelty will wear off. More powerful cpu and HD 1080p screens
I just had a new feature!!! on the exterior of the dsi, instead of 1 camera, 2!!! which allows you to take 3D photos and 3D video to be posted on a special 3DS website to share with the world. Then, you can download other peoples 3DS videos/pictures to see them on your 3DS screens.. that would be a pretty good use of a 2 camera 3D capturing system that nobody has yet really utilized.. maybe these 3D vid/pics can also be viewed on those new 3D tv's..
I havent really gave it to much thought, but seeing as its only a few hours until the world (a lot of people at the expo) will have a chance to play this handheld im guessing it will be awesome either way.
edit: I have a chance to read this thread and it seems like if they only include a third of whats in here they will have made the best handheld gaming device ever!
I've been playing Virtual Boy games this week in preparation of the 3DS reveal. Good times, and a great reminder both of the possibilities for 3D and its potential commercial disaster if pulled off badly.
By the way, not to discuss the taboo topic of emulation too much, but for those who haven't heard: there is now a Virtual Boy emulator with near 100% compatibility, sound support, and 3D support in a variety of modes (I've been playing it using red/cyan glasses, and it looks great). It's really just a quietly released beta version of an emulator that previously did not support the system, and so the news hasn't spread all that far in the roughly 2 months since it was released, but it is out there if anyone is interested in reliving these games in 3D.

If you double-click on it and go to YouTube, you'll see a little "3D" menu item at the bottom of the player, which will let you select from different viewing methods (if you have any 3D glasses around, for instance, you can select that, or set it to cross-eyed). For some reason, the 3D options don't show up when you embed it in another site.
