I honestly would not recommend Glory of Heracles. I thought it was dull and boring. The fights are painfully slow, and too frequent. The story is pretty forgettable and the ship travelling parts make me want to tear my hair out. Don't believe me, then ask JayArr who also did not care for the game. Really do your research on this one.
Anyone here play nostalgia? I've been wondering if its any good!
I tried and failed. It took way too long to get anywhere, which was really frustrating. I wound up giving up on it and moving to something else.
Yeah, I haven't played Nostalgia myself, but everything I've seen it read reminds of things that I didn't like about old-school games. I'd still have to play it, of course, and knowing that it was actually a resurrected Sega Saturn game does explain some things, but I'm still not any hurry to pick it up.
Yeah, I could mention a lot of other lesser-known RPGs on the DS but they're all very hit-or-miss. I don't have any of them either so I couldn't personally say if they're good. Sands of Destruction, Glory of Heracles, Magical Starsign, Nostalgia, A Witch's Tale, Suikoden Tierkreis, Black Sigil.
Oh, and then there are the ones that will never get an English release. Sigma Harmonics and Blood of Bahamut look incredible but they're never getting official translations, and fan translations are highly unlikely due to low demand.
-Final Fantasy CC: Ring of Fates/Echoes of Time - I've seen the crystal chronicles series being bashed in many boards, but I find the games (the ds ones) to be fairly solid games. -Shiren the Wanderer - may not appeal to everyone, but to those who are fans of the mystery dungeon style games will love it. -Orcs and Elves - a turn based dungeon crawler with rpg elements. It is a short, but rewarding experience.
Fighting Fantasy - the critics seemed to hate this because it was too hard, but I loved it. Give it a chance.

I wasn't even aware the Chrystal Chronicle games were RPGs. I don't think the first one was, was it? I thought they were all Action-Adventure games more in the vein of Zelda than any contemporary RPGs, even dungeon crawlers.
And I second Shiren The Wanderer, of course. Fantastic game all around, and the first game that got me to like Rogue-likes, which I had always despised before.
Can't say anything about Orcs & Elves, though. I heard it's good from many people, but it's too D&Dish for my tastes.

Ring of Fates and Echoes of Times added a lot of traditional RPG elements to the formula, they're a lot closer to action RPGs but also keep the puzzle solving and have a lot of platforming(and the chalice only pop up in a few dungeons!). I wouldn't class the other CC games as RPGs though.

Yeah, I have GoH and it really is about as dull as it gets. A few months back I started getting into a big flood of RPG's, and I am playing stuff like Dragon Quest IX, Chrono Trigger, Pokemon SS, so when I tried out GoH, I could really see how it didn't stack up. No worries, I bought it for so cheap, so I guess one day I will finish it when I have nothing else to play, haha. I digress, for the question at hand, an underrated DS RPG...hm, Magical Starsign was pretty fun.

Also, I appreciated Away Shuffle Dungeon for trying something creative. It's not brilliant, but good enough to be worth a budget purchase..
Wow, I totally forgot about that but yeah pretty interesting game that has a lot of flaws but should have got a bit more attention.

I imagine they'll be quite a few. Reason being as the DS has so many outstatnding RPGs that even "good" ones get marked down because the standard bar is so high.
