Topic: DS Games like this?

I'm looking for a game that is engrossing like Pokemon; something you can dump hours and hours into, and something with a lot of replay value. Something that you get attached to and lose yourself in the world of the game. Like Pokemon! Basically I'm looking for an engrossing game that I can really feel involved in, with a lot of replay value. Thanks in advance!

I thought about DQ9, but my only gripe with RPG's like that it doesn't necessarily have the replay value that Pokemon has... Pokemon has collecting, training, battling, trading, contests, exploring, etc. post game, whereas DQ9 has...? I dunno. Maybe I'm just misinformed. How is the replay value on DQ9?

It's kinda like a mini single player mmorpg (though you can still play it locally with friends). You can end up wasting a lot of time doing side quests, training your team, unlocking classes, completing lists (monsters, items, etc) and finding dungeons. The world is pretty well developed, each town has a unique personality.

And it's rather challenging.

Oh I see... Sounds interesting. What is the post game like compared to that of Pokemon? I know in Pokemon after beating the game you can pretty much play forever, as there is always something to work on.

I actually have no idea, I could never beat the last boss. (I actually just restarted the game, that's probably why I have it so fresh in my mind).

I know there's still things to do after that though. I just never got there.

Interesting. How is the multiplayer in DQ9? And if you have any other suggestions I'd love to hear them!

Eel

The multiplayer was a big focus of the game when it released, the game is pretty much structured like a real mmorpg (invite your friends, travel together, kill stuff). But not so much that it feels like you must play it with others.

Combat is still turn based and the progress you may make while in multiplayer is only valid for the owner of the "world".

For other recommendations, I don't really have many that fit your needs... Maybe Mario 64? Kirby Mass Attack (with its minigames)? More Pokemon? Animal Crossing?

That seems really interesting! I'll definitely look into it, and thanks for your help

Yeah I guess I had some pretty specific stipulations yeah I'm also thinking about more Pokemon, but I was just curious if there were other options haha. Animal Crossing... I just never could get into it, haha.
