Are the Pikmin Amiibos for Smash Bros. and Hey! Pikmin different in terms of how they function in each game?

Smash Bros and Hey! Pikmin Amiibos

Is it worth owning both to get different features in Smash Bros/Hey Pikmin and other games?

They do different things in Hey Pikmin but I don't think the Pikmin amiibo works in Smash, only Olimar.

My other Switch is a WiiU.

Mostly because one of the amiibo is the Pikmin and the other one only happens to have Pikmin on it.

Bloop.

So it's worth owning both, as I own both "Hey! Pikmin" and "Smash Bros." games. OK. Cheers.

BTW Olimar is £6.00 in Argos (UK) - they are getting rid of loads of Amiibos on the cheap.

[EDIT] I've picked up Olimar (from Argos) now. Ordered the other one from eBay.

Unfortunately, the Pikmin amiibo can not be used in lieu of an Olimar amiibo in Smash (I have just tested it). Olimar may unlock Pikmin-related content in other games whereas it is not a certainty with the Pikmin amiibo (it can be used to unlock the Pikmin suit in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but I cannot confirm whether it will do the same for Mario Kart 8 on Wii U, for example) which was released over 2 years after the release of the Olimar amiibo.

They aren't worth having for in-game functionality, but these two particular amiibo are among the best looking available.

Thanks for the info sillygostly

I have all those games metioned, but my WiiU has been packed up in the spare room for over a year now (I only took it up as I was renovating the house), so I'm not expecting to test out Mario Kart8WiiU any time soon.

The Olimar Amiibo unlocks some secret spots in Hey! Pikmin - I've just tested that. One other Amiibo I used gave some Sparklium, but it won't let me use any more Amiibos, saying I've reached my Amiibo limit for the day.

Cheers chaps.

But in BoTW there is a trick to it on 3DS that might be more trickier.
