Topic: Dark Souls Amiibo to Scalpers?

So how many knew of the release of Dark Souls Amiibo but never got the message of went to GameStop only to find out SOLD OUT? I know I did and one GS Employee was in the middle of transactions when he was notified all sold out and another didn't know it was even released til I told them. So looks like GS likes to play hide and seek for buyers but Scalpers gets the upper hand? I seen them selling on eBay starting at $100 from the 15.99$ retail price. I don't know about you but this feels like a sham that GS would do this knowing full well Amiibo should be had in quantities for sufficient buyers to get and I was only 20 hours behind when it was gone.

Update: just heard from a Staff in GS that they will not re-stock the Amiibo. Looks like the Scalpers WON and buyers pocket book is going to get smaller and GS customer base will shrink even smaller as result of their bait and Scalpe tactics.

I recommend trying different stores. I remember when the BotW champion amiibos came out, BestBuy was all sold out but Walmart.com had Revali, Daruk and Umbrosa. I always hear people getting lucky with their local stores too.

For those who were following NL's article on the amiibo, I included a link for it when the sales went live in the comment section. Someone said sales lasted 2 hours before they closed. Longer than I expected it to last!

Newcomers to the amiibo collection scene should follow Amiibo News on Twitter and set up alerts. You'll never miss an amiibo again! You'll also have a chance later to secure a purchase when any given amiibo is restocked.

@JTMnM so what is the link? Most getting Amiibos aren't newcomer this is a myth. Unfortunately Nintendo refused to info most off such release and GameStop was even worse they couldn't even post about it. No, this was for Scalpers plain and simple. If it wasn't the inventory would be there still but no a GS Employee even told me their Corporate office email them back saying no re-stock. That tells you they could care less. This is just like TP Amiibo that lasted for at least 2 days when I got mine so the excuse there wasn't enough is just Plain Lie. If history is anything GS already knew the demands that isn't a myth here.

@SwitchForce It doesn't matter anymore, but I commented the link to the GS listing on the article. You can see it near the bottom of the page.

Just check out Amiibo News or Amiibo Alerts on Twitter. Set up the notifications, and you'll be good to go. It's silly to assume this'll end with a single print. There'll be restocks, rest assured.

Are you surprised? Amiibo fly off the shelves and this one has bonus meme value that the internet loves.

It's also possible more people outside of the Nintendo fanbase had an interest in it. Dark Souls has a big fanbase, make sense that there would be collectors among them.

Great....didn't last hopefully it comes back. Unlike GS they told even a store manager sorry your out of luck there will be no Re-Stocking that was their official email back to him. So if that isn't bad Corporate management in providing enough supply - then I don't know what is.

One assume the rest of us was able to get the notification after the fact. To Which I reply was a well know Fact Amiibo regardless of itself should be made in quantities for the masses not the limited. If it wasn't a GS Exclusive that would be otherwise but from how the US release was that leaves more doubt.

Just try a little later. It's often just paranoia that makes everyone and their grandma order new amiibos the moment they get revealed because there's this misconception that "all amiibos are hard to get" but once the dust settles you'll easily find stores that have them.
At the very least here, in Europe, it's pretty easy to get most of the figurines at RRP, from my experience. Only real downside is that you'll have to live without the functionality for a little while,if you get the games that use the amiibos at launch.

I hope that is right-this is why as a last resort I will buy from eBay Scalpers. But doesn't mean I will keep checking US and UK sites.
