@Artwark Well IIRC the PS4 and Xbone have a PC infrastructure, and the Wii U does not, making it harder to port over. If I'm wrong, please correct me, as I've only done a few small computer programs.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

For indie devs at least, it's a tools thing. 3DS does not support Unity3d in particular, whereas PSVita and Wii U do. Even before PSVita supported Unity, it had PSMobile, and the basic 2D/3D engine that came with it. Getting hold of that was just a matter of signing up on the website, downloading the software, and buying a Vita from the shops to plug into your PC (or you could even make the game in the PC emulator until you bought a PSVita).

I suspect it's a similar story with Child of Light. That whatever engine they were using, it was already supported by Wii U and Vita, so just a case of pushing the button, versus 3DS, where that's not the case. (I certainly know that's the story if it was made in Unity, and while I don't know for a fact, I suspect UE3/4 and CryEngine likewise support everything except 3DS).
