Topic: Which games on 3DS require Stereoscopic vision?

I saw a topic where dames say "2D images only" "3d images, can be turned 2D". But I never saw a label saying "Requires 3d" " or "unplayable by typical player in 2d".

But on that website it devolved to New 3DS vs 3DS not 3DS vs 2DS.

I can't think of 2 games considered "unable to 100%": with 2D, namely Super Mario 3D Land, and Crush.

Any other games marked as "unplayable in 2D" or "requires 3D to 100%"?

Also is there any special logos, like something with a red and cyan anaglyph, to symbolically indicate on the box "requires Stereoscopy"? (Would red and cyan glasses be a good universal symbol for stereoscopy, even though that tech is rarely used now?)

0 games require stereoscopic vision to complete.

It may give you an advantage on certain situations, but it's never required.

No games require stereoscopic at all and I'm struggling to think of how that could even be a thing. Sure, some games, it may help with accuracy, but still wouldn't be required.

@tripletopper While I like the 3D effect, many people don't, and they never play with 3D on, and I've never heard of a game being harder because of lacking 3D. The 2DS XL screens (IPS screens) look great, by the way.

Have you played Crush or Super Mario 3D Land on a 2DS, (or on a 3DS with the 3d shut off?). Some of those bonus levels are all luck unless you either memorize, or understand the 3DS. Some if those rooms are "optical puzzles" which are eventually clear when using Stereoscopy but rather luck based and arbitrary if seen in 2D.

Also the whole point of crush is changing perspectives and changing between 2d and 3d.

Those 2 games, and for movies, Avatar. and Life of Pi are my 4 nominees for the Lela Awards. (Named after Futurama's one-eyed alien.) They go from unwatchable/unplayable to masterpieces when you open your second eye.

I don't really know about the other game, but the visual puzzles in 3D land just require a little trial and error, and spatial awareness.

Hardly anything that would be game breaking on a 2DS or for people with only one eye.

I agree. I finished 3D land fully on the 2ds.

@Eel yes trial and error would work on those, but unless you could see in 3d the puzzles seem arbitrary and random and intentionally physics-broken to make the puzzles work.

In theory most games should feel that when you get something you truly earn something but haven't met me so trivial that's considered part of the everyday thing. In other words it should present a challenge that is in theory overcomable on the 1st attempt if one learns their lesson properly or observes something properly.

for example there's a couple levels that one could beat basically (even some of the later ones) without a death on the first run on Super Meat Boy so that's a game that's hard but fair.

Using your 3D vision adds the fairness into it and makes it less arbitrary.

But seriously there should be some warning that says game would be partially unplayable/harder and seemingly arbitrary if played on the 2DS.

So other than 3D Land or Crush, are there any games that seem extremely harder in 2D compared to 3D?

And you probably got to admit for movies probably Avatar and Life of Pi are both movies that are average to substandard if left in 2D but greatly expand itself in 3d.

I think if there were any two candidates a video games where the third dimension greatly expands it to the point of making the 2D game look like an extremely poor compromise probably 3D Land and crush on the two big ones on the 3DS, and none of the games on the other systems require 3D.

Stay corrected maybe Zaxxon 3D on the Sega Master System would be a game that would be considered anywhere from arbitrary to unplayable in 2D even though there is a 2d mode for it those Space battles are tough to tell if you're in line with your enemies or not.
