I had a major problem. My 3DS XL is not working and i did some help from YouTube, but i can really used some expert for help. I turn on my ds and the blue flash went off after it made a popping sound. What can i do to fix it? I need help. Should I switch the harddrive or what? I'm looking the best one that had same problem as I had. I'm live in Georgia

We are not Nintendo and we don't control who has access to the information you post here, so please don't give us your address or other real information about you. It's for your own safety.

It seems your system is probably suffering a short circuit, contact Nintendo to see if they can fix it, or replace it.

It's OK, I'm an expert.

With the 3DS XL models, if you get a popping noise, accompanied by a blue flash, then I'm afraid the unit is dead and beyond economical repair.

Are you sure it was a blue flash though? Because if it was green there might still be a chance.

@Jimbo90999 So which part of the unit was emitting the blue light?

The exact same thing just happened with my son's red 3DS XL. I called Nintendo already and will be pretty expensive to ship and repair, close to $100. Warranty date is long expired. They will repair it to factory standards. The Customer Service Rep tried to be helpful, but bottom line is that I'll be out money.

You might be able to find a Youtube video or 'fixit yourself' site, but it looks complicated so I don't have a choice but to send to Nintendo soon.

I think the problem occurred because my son loves the click sound and feel of the screen and will sometimes open and close the lid to hear the click and he loves slamming it shut and flipping the screen open again. I suspect he wore out some circuit in the hinge. In the meantime, he's using MY gold Zelda Link Between Worlds 3DS XL with very strict rules to open close the screen very gently.
