We've all heard about the 3DS's amazing top screen, about how it has 3D capabilities and greatly improved graphics and how it's bigger than previously.
But what about the bottom screen? Will it have the same graphical capabilities? I know it can't display 3D, but will it at least be able to have graphics as good as the top screens?
I checked the 3DS FAQ and didn't see anything about it, and all the screenshots I've seen of 3DS games use the bottom screen as a secondary screen, and what's displayed can easily be displayed the same way on the DS, Lite, or DSi.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
So hopefully it'll be a bit better, although not a great deal. Also, it's similar to top screen, 400 x 240 for each eye. I haven't seen it myself, though, so I can't say for sure. There's a complete comparison graph at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_3DS if you scroll down a bit.
The resolution of the bottom screen is higher, but it's about the same size as a DS Lite screen. That means the pixel density will be higher and it's going to be very clear as a result. Though touch input will need to be very precise too. It should still be able to display 3D graphics (as in polygons, not stereoscopy) but I imagine devs will want to put the hardware to work for the show-stealing top screen.

When I played LEGO Star Wars it seemed to react to thumb touches much more precisely than the DS and a lot of other people have said the same thing. Some games, like the aforementioned LEGO SW3 and DOA: Dimensions, actually seemed to be geared towards it.

Wouldn't thumb touches leaves thumb prints? I hate smidges all over my touch screen, I'm constantly wiping my DSi and Lite's bottom screens with my glasses cleaning cloth.
Probably over time it would look messy but I don't think I noticed any immediate smudging affect. Of course I was quite rushed so maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention!
