@Bolt_Strike: Pokemon Platinum is like my second favorite game of all time so of course I also have strong positive feelings for it. Did you like Unova?
Team Flare was fighting for some kind of "rebirth" of the world, basically, what they seeked was restoring order for how they envisioned the world before choas and human influence.
That was what they were fighting for.
However, the flaw is how they planned to execute it, and why exactly they even did desire to make this "renewed world" in the first place.. what exactly was wrong with the current one in their vision, and why renewing it had to be achieved by killing every lifeform that would maintain the new and old world. Their plan was also unecessary, as like I've said... go back to cyrus, and with his plan, he achieves the exact same thing and then some using the power of dialga and palkia. Going after Xerneas and Yveltal for one purpose seemed insignificant when they can go for full packages like dialga and palkia for what goal they were aiming for.

Bingo. Great explanation. I really hope Gamefreak rewrites Team Flare and much more in Pokemon Z.
Who honestly remembers what team flare was fighting for?
I do.
Tell us right now then. Tell us without laughing and rolling your eyes. We dare you. Lol
Well Team Flare's apparent goal was to create a truely beautiful world and were obsessed with money (although this trait was exclusive to the Grunts). Their (basically Lysandre's) plan was to use the Legendary pokemon (Yveltal/Xerneas) to power the ultimate weapon to wipe out life (specifically pokemons and humans), and in turn bring a beautiful natural world into existence; one that was no longer filled with violence and war. If I recall correctly, the one who truely cared about and lived for that goal was Lysandre as he would rather die than continue waiting for his beautiful world to be created.
I felt like Team Flare and what Lysandre was attempting to do is a more coherent story in Pokemon Y than in Pokemon X, simply because it makes a hell of a lot more sense to use the Pokemon that represents death to attempt to commit mass genocide than the Pokemon that represents life.
well at least team flare had some good fashion......in all seriousness I think they should have a reform in team flare like what they did with team plasma in B/W to B2/W2

I don't find any "it lacked emerald content" viable criticism towards ORAS since it's called Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire not Delta Emerald.
I don't get where people are getting the idea that remakes are only allowed to draw from the first two games, especially when HGSS already included elements from Crystal.
however the water routes problem was indeed solved with the new soaring mechanic. In which players can basically go to any route they want including midway on these water routes.
"ORAS didn't really get a good post game section" I would hardly say since the delta episode was actually a story driven post game unlike most pokemon games, in which the post game is simply just solving legendary events and puzzles where eventually the moment passes (which oras did lack in general, no moments with the legends at all, and two legends were kinda forced on you.)
Post game story arcs don't really last as long, especially when you're trudging through old areas.
What defines a pokemon game's quality more is the replay value, pokemon is a franchise meant to be revisited over and over again, and the game is meant to have over plenty of things to do even after everything is completed. ORAS fixed this issue in the offline perspective, giving shiny hunters and competitive breeders plenty of things to do and experiment with.. such as dexnav, new mega sets, and other meaningful things that player could still do ten years from now. Whereas before back then, it was pretty much as long as you had wifi, you'd keep going back just for the online or repetitively playing the E4/Battle Frontier.
ORAS > Platinum in terms of up to date content and replay value
Platinum > ORAS in terms of remember able characters, story, and generally better legendary encounters.
Many of these things don't really add content though, making breeding easier isn't really adding anything because you could always breed, and the DexNav is basically just Pokeradar with hidden abilities and egg moves. Platinum has more actual content with features like the Battle Frontier and Sinnoh Underground and the amount of new areas there are to explore.

BW1 were pretty mediocre in every aspect except story. BW2 did fix a lot, but it still suffered from the usual problems of linear region design and low challenge.
Anyways, I feel that while there definitely was some similarities between Cyrus and Lysandre, there's a lot of differences.
Lysandre had good intentions of making a more beautiful world (as in, improving the current one), but he had a flawed understanding on why the world had become ugly, and took the extremist approach to fix it. He believed that the world was ugly due to the overabundance of humans and Pokemon, yet limited amount of resources. He believed that the humans were the main cause of this, and that the Pokemon are innocent but get dragged into the struggle over those resources. He believed that the only way to stop the madness and ugliness was to kill all humans using the power of the ultimate weapon that ended the war from 3000 years ago, which required awakening and using Xerneas/Yveltal.
Cyrus on the other hand was a depressed psychopath that wanted to destroy the universe using the power of Dialga/Palkia and create a new one without emotion, willpower, or knowledge. Killing everybody was just a side effect of that.

Well, it wasn't Xerneas and Yveltal who were going to commit the mass genocide, that was the job of the Ultimate Weapon. The Ultimate Weapon after all was mainly powered by the life force of Pokemon, so it makes perfect since that Yveltal and Xerneas would be used as power supplies for it.

If I recall correctly Lysandre also desired the eradication of Pokemon. He adored Pokemon but he felt that as long they existed, they would be abused and he was certain more pointless violence would occur because of them (whether intentional or not).
@Aromaiden: Yeah, but Yveltal absorbs the life force of everything around it. Xerneas gives out life force. Makes more sense to absorb the life force of everything around it to power the weapon than give out life force to everything around it and then somehow fire the weapon. Of course, I guess you could argue that Xerneas gave out life force directly to the weapon, which would make it a slightly different story.
What I'm a bit fuzzy on is the story of the weapon the first time it was used.
@IceClimbers: They were used because they both practically had an unlimited amount of Life Energy (Infinity Energy). They didn't willingly give their energy, it was forcefully sapped from them; which was why they immediately took it back when they reawakened.
@Aromaiden: What I'm fuzzy on is how it was used and what happened when it was used the first time around. I know AZ created it in an attempt to end the war, but I don't remember how his Floette tied into it and how it somehow didn't kill everybody when it was used. Didn't the blast hit an asteroid in space the first time it was used, which led to the creation of Mega Stones (I think this part wasn't explained until the Delta Episode in ORAS though)?
I think when AZ used it, he used the energy from the grave stones of the dead pokemon in the war from whats it's face town. Which revived his floetta from the grave. I'm not sure if the weapon killed everybody then, honestly that was the most difficult part of x/y to comprehend next to mega evolution.
I think in the process he also gave himself immortality.
@IceClimbers: The Ultimate Weapon was created by AZ, thousands of years prior to the events X and Y. The UW was originally used to revive AZ's Floette who was murdered during the War between two opposing sides. It granted both AZ and his Floette immortality. Although, it sadly came at the cost of many Pokemons lives; as the it relied mainly on the power produced by the life energy of Pokemon (Infinity Energy).
AZ later desired vengeance against those who originally killed Floette, so he converted the UW into a catastrophic weapon and once again used it to specifically destroy both sides of the War. According to Professor Sycamore from XY, the existence of Mega Stones are linked to the UW's power.
