Well then again, Kanto was the only regional Pokédex without any dark types.
It also had very few ghost, steel and dragon families. One family each I think... Now it's two.
Throw in Megas and you've also got an extra Dragon type and Dark type. And if they were to revisit Kanto, they'd probably throw in cross gen evos as well, so that would make things a little more balanced:
Still could use more help, especially Ghost. Grass/Ghost Parasect anyone?
My issues isn't as much that they tried to fill gaps, but they were uncreative about it. A lot of these typings were fairly predictable (especially some of the Dark type Alola Forms) and weren't all that different from their original concept.
So this question would have been just as relevant in DPPt, but... why are so many people around the world so intent on gumming up the GTS with stupid requests? My first guess would be 'in case they get lucky', but it can't be just that, as some are downright impossible (I'm pretty sure I just saw someone wanting a Brionne between lvl 1 and 10), and there are also some weird patterns (like everyone wanting Porygon2 and Kingdra). I wish there was a downvote button so patently ridiculous requests could get kicked off if enough people thought they were unreasonable. They just end up hanging around and filling the system with nonsense.
The GTS (and online trading in general) has been a whole lot worse from my experiences in Gen 5. There are still stupid trading requests (even when excluding Legendary Pokémon) but they seem to get pushed to the back the longer they're up there. The more recent requests are the first results you get and they're typically more fair (if they haven't been taken already).
It still would've been nice to have the option to search up what other people want as well as what I'd like. I guess when it comes to feeling charitable, that's what the Wonder Trade is for.

So, I just finished the single battles at Battle Tree and unlocked super single battles. My team consisted of Alola Raichu, Golisopod and Silvally. All did an amazing job, specially Raichu which is kinda underestimated.
The last battle was quite challenging in my opinion, I saved it in a Battle Video to brag about it.
The battle tree is kind of boring tbh. I really don't like how the teams you face seem to be designed to specifically counter your team and how stallish they play. At least from my experience anyways.
Also, I'm disappointed in how little post-game content there is. Besides the small UB quest and the Tapu's there really isn't much else I would found myself interested in.
I finally got round to beating the main story, capture most of the legendaries and reach the Battle Tree.
One thing that has been annoying me recently in Pokemon is that Kanto always seems to get all the love, and the other regions are mostly forgotten about. Sun and Moon had Alolan forms only for Kanto pokemon, there was Oak's Cousin, and various other people moving to and from Kanto.
Sure Red and Blue are great, but I wish other regions like Johto or Unova would get more mentions. Plus I'd like to see Alolan forms from each past region.
The whole Kanto pandering is undoubtedly to "celebrate" the 20th anniversary and fuel nostalgia for fans who grew up with that generation. You do have to look for the references to other games, and they sure could have done more with it, but there's more acknowledgement of previous gens than I remember in X/Y for example. I think they did alright, I like little touches or cameos here and there.
Putting in a handful of references like we've been getting every generation hardly screams "20th anniversary", and it certainly doesn't match the heavy skew towards 1st gen Pokemon in the Alola Dex and the fact that EVERY SINGLE ONE of the Alola forms are 1st gen Poekmon. This game is definitely Kanto pandering.
@-Green- Well... You may feel like the teams are designed to counter you because your team has many counters. As far as I know, Battle Tree is just so chock full of different and varied teams with the idea of giving a challenge. You can see in different forums that many people with entirely different teams have found the same teams, and obviously found them hard or easy depending on the pokemon they had.
Personally, I have found the Battle Tree as a fun challenge to take from time to time.
@Tsurii Not really from what I have seen, there are times where I have faced many teams where there is no counter to any of my pokemon for at least 10 battles. Then again, there are other times where I face a capable team on my first round. It's not like there aren't many counters to an Alolan Raichu, a Golisopod and a Silvally with fairy memmory.
Also, RNG has been quite good to me while it's not the case with many others, precisely because it's RNG. My Raichu has succeded in using Focus Blast for about 14 from the 16 times I have tried to use it, with no accuracy boost whatsoever..
I must be very unlucky. My team going into the Tree had only one major type weakness, which was to Steel Types, and I had a bad match-up against Tentacruel. But I swear I faced nothing but Steel Types and Pokemon like Tentacruel. I crunched through them, but it was very annoying.
I think in the entire time I've played in the Battle Tree I've only ever once had a type advantage on my opponent's team.
I can vouch with the fact that the Battle Tree purposely pits you against teams that have some kind of advantage to yours almost all the time. It's been like that since Gen 5, but it's at its worse here.

@-Green- I think steel types are quite frequent on battle tree since I have also faced a lot of them despite not being weak to them (just with silvally). Tentacruel is also quite annoying and I have faced one in most of the times I played it. There's also an infamous walrein that punishes the lack of fighting moves like close combat, brick break or anything that can end it in one move.
I suppose it could just be pure coincidence, but I just find that hard to believe when seeing my own experiences and the experiences of others. I've tried a lot of different teams with different types and it's almost always the case that I'm being countered.
