@-Green- There are some teams that people suggested because of great overall performance they had with them, mostly formed by Tapus, Garchomp/ Salamence and other suggested stuff, you should search for them.
I've made it pretty so far with the team I've got. I probably would've beaten it if I hadn't lost against Colress. I had a Mudsdale to wreck his team, but his Mega Metagross for some reason knew Explosion and I think it crit my Mudsdale, so yeah.
@Tsurii Hmm... I gave all the 'Tower' songs from GSC a listen (Sprout, Burned, and Tin Bell), and I didn't think any of them really lined up with the restaurant theme. I think they've got a lot of notes in common, but given that all four songs are largely based around Japanese pentatonic scales (and therefore only have unique five notes to play with), some overlap is slightly inevitable.
In my own musical quandary, I've got a weird feeling that the section at 0:30 in this song is REALLY similar to some team base/secret facility/shifty lab from a past game, but I can't put my finger on which. If anyone's got an encyclopaedic knowledge of suspicious lab/base songs, I'd dearly like to find out which (or could just be completely wrong about the similarity even existing).
@Tsurii Hey do you have sun or moon? I ask because I have a Cosmoem I'm lvl'ing to 52 hoping to find someone with moon that can evo it into a Lunala for me xD(with a rare candy ill give it). That would work correct or is this Cosmoem of mine destined to be a Solgaleo?
@Tsurii lol sweeeet! Well I just got it to lvl 52, let me know when your on moon. I'm in no rush(doesn't need to be today), was thinking of jumping onto some MHG lol but will switch over whenever.
Hello, I was starting to fill my pokedex up and realized I missed most monsters you get through fishing or SOS battles (under weather conditions).
My main problem with fishing is that I don't understand at all how it works in this game. The supposed "rare species" located in disturbed rings of water never show, the only thing I ever met at the end of my rod were carps and a single little fish (I forgot its english name). Am I supposed to do something to make things change? (at first, I thought it was a rod problem like in previous episodes but in the end there is only one single rod in the full game)
As for the SOS hunts under specific weather:
After an evening of failure hoping for one to appear (near the kapu/tapu/toko village), I tried again this morning and battled 30+ ice seasels in a row and none of those chains was ever disturbed by a guest ice cream. Currently at my 33rd ice shrew (same chain) and still nothing.
Same problem when I tried to found poliwhirls. On the other hand, I repeatedly get those dragon slugs during chains under rains by the rampaged village.
Is there some rarity scale among those "hidden" species?
@DreamyViridi Thank you. This video sums up the idea, but I already noticed all of this. (exception of the ground dragon)

About the upcoming online competition ("Alola friends", I think), no legend or "promotional" pokémon is allowed. I have read somewhere that this limitation doesn't include the kapu/tabu fairies. Are they really allowed ? https://3ds.pokemon-gl.com/information/173540c6-ac2a-4d47-b5d...
@Rei - Yeah, all of the weather-only Pokémon can make filling the 'dex a bit troublesome. I'm still missing Politoed and the Vanillish line myself as far as weather-SOS Pokémon go.
I think you've got the general idea right, it just takes a while to get the right ones to show and some only appear in specific places. If you need help, this video details all of the weather-only Pokemon. Hope it helps!
I think my favourite thing about this game is the protagonist's unwavering comitment their being an amateur bed critic. Even in the heat of the moment as Lusamine has just run of with Cosmog, I can happily inform the world that her bed is "so soft and enveloping that is feels like you could sink right into it".
Marvellous. I've never felt like more of a bed connoisseur.
I own Sun — can I evolve Cosmoem to Lunala if I evolve it while I'm in the 'alternate world' (where I found Cosmog) or will it still become Solgaleo? If not I guess I will have to borrow a Moon copy from a friend.
@Meowpheel Darn... oh well. But thanks! Still not too keen on the version exclusive evolutions though... I had hoped the alt world would have been a nice way around that, but I guess all it's good for is a quick swap from day/night.... which isn't really bad either.
Well, got my first shiny in the game. I was traición my team in Poni Island since they were a bit underleveled against the wild Pokemon and boom, a shiny Pelipper appeared.
I caught it, but it doesn't have any useful stats for battle.
I beat the game (or at least the League)! Finally! I thought it was pretty great, all in all. I'm not sure what the general consensus is, but I though basing a plot around a psychotic mother who tries to genetically engineer a creature solely to defeat and capture beasts from another dimension to add to her collection was... awesome!
I've ended up sinking more time into it than I would have liked though, so may well just read up about the rest of the game online. I think my total playtime for the main story was over 60 hours, which astonishes me.
Anyway, after getting bored of X/Y, and skipping ORAS, it was exciting to play something that felt genuinely fresh and inspired, for the most part. And the difficulty was also a notch harder than XY, which was nice (although this may be mainly because I turned off the Pokémon switch option). I got pretty bored of just spamming Flamethrower and Psychic in XY and destroying nearly everything.
Anyway, yeah, well done GameFreak. It's weird to think it's already out and pretty much over. I spent so long following the pre-release hype, but then didn't manage to get a copy for several weeks after release due to stock issues, meaning I missed out on the actual RELEASE hype.
But now I can join in. I am Alola's first champion hooray! ...Along with pretty much everyone else now!
The story was great and I actually enjoyed how positive and whimsical the main characters are. It was refreshing for a Pokemon story. My only complaint would be the last 10% of the game felt like it dragged on. Battle after battle, then a long cut scene, then another battle, then the elite 4, then more long drawn out battles after that... it's like they went out of their way to make a great story but just went back to the copy/paste of previous Pokemon games in the final portion of the game. Not a huge complaint but just felt like it dragged on.
