I've been wondering why no one's made this topic yet. Anyways, it's just discussion on Pokemon Battle Trozei. (Pokemon Link Battle in Europe) I'm looking forward to it, it definitely looks like it will keep me occupied a lot longer than most other puzzle games since you can catch and collect pokemon, where as most other puzzle games only have you trying for the highest score. I especially like how strategy it looks like you'll have to use in order to get better scores. Oh! And is there anyone who has played it that can share their thoughts on it?
I am very eager for Thursday to arrive so I can get it. Filling the Dex in Pokémon Pinball was very addictive, so I hope this will be the same, just with a bigger Pokédex. And the fact that this is Pokémon matching means it is not color based, so I won't have problems with it.
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
They said it's a fun, mechanically sound "match 3" type game, it's sure to appeal to Pokémon fans (it borrows the concept of elemental strengths & weaknesses from the main series, which is an appreciated touch, even if it doesn't effect the gameplay in a very meaningful way), but other than the theme, it does nothing in particular to stand out.
They said it's graphical fidelity & interface aren't above the quality of it's mobile counterparts (like Candy Crush Saga or Bejeweled), despite featuring over 700 Pokémon, it doesn't offer as much content as it's mobile counterparts either (lack of online leaderboards or head to head matches severely limiting it's replayability & appeal), and yet despite all that it costs 10X as much.
In conclusion, they felt it's very hard to justify a purchase, even for the most die hard Pokémon fans.
Wow, that review seems really unfair. You can't compare it to Candy Crush or Bejeweled because it plays completely differently. I'm also not sure what he means by "the graphical fidelity and interface aren't above the quality of those games." Is he saying it doesn't look as good? It is disappointing that there aren't any online leaderboards though, I always wonder why games like this will leave them out.
It is like 7 bucks, I think I am going to get it. I never played the first and love pokemon. Also I don't play mobile games (often, maybe on rare occasions) so I won't be comparing it to those puzzle games thatare probably similar
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
I started playing earlier, it's pretty addicting.
I've quite enjoyed my time with it so far, but now my hands are covered in band-aids, haha.
One on the palm of my left hand where I rest my 3DS, and then one on my thumb and middle finger that I use to hold my stylus.
Blisters everywhere... never happened with my thousands of hours of playing 3DS before this game.
I played a little bit earlier, and it's pretty fun! At first, I was kind of unsure, but once you start figuring out more strategies and things get a little harder, it starts getting fun.
I would get it of it came with extras for the main Pokemon games. Just like I bought My Pokemon Ranch only for mew.
Yes, I'm like that.
I wonder if they plan on doing that stuff later through SpotPass. It would be cool to get a notification that a new level has just downloaded and if you beat it you get a special pokemon... (I think smart phone games do stuff like that only not as cool)

I am really liking it so far. At first, I was a little unsure as the new play mechanics seemed to make the game feel insanely chaotic. I really like the inclusion of the main series 'rock, paper, scissors' battle mechanics as they inject some strategy into the madness.
I absolutely love this game. It's a really nice new twist on the match 3 puzzle style that also requires strategizing and quick reflexes. Absolutely brilliant!

Sometimes too quick of reflexes, I can't keep up sometimes lol

Ok i never understood the love that "3 or more" games recieved. Then i picked up this game and now i do understand. Its super addictive. And the addition to fight pokemon and capture them is great. Especially the idea to incorporate the streangth and weaknesses.
i'm totally addicted to this game, i love it. definitely my favorite e-shop game. i finally got an A rank on level 6-4......this game is not easy though. i've had to re-do a couple of the levels.
Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword
For the money I forked over, Pokémon Link! Battle just doesn't offer enough fun at all. The whole game entirely relies on its name, which is really sad considering how great the DS predecessor was.
Mostly, the game is just too repetitive. The attack type system just feels tacked on, since you're supposed to get your link combo as high as possible, anyway. The only difference is how quickly you rack up points, and even that turns into a chore since you keep doing the same thing without any noticeable increase in challenge. And after two hours, it doesn't feel justified anymore.
Add to that the throwaway multiplayer which has no Vs. Mode (what a waste), and it feels like a ripoff, just like many other puzzle games of the similar kind.
Overall, I can't sympathize with it at all. Objectively speaking, Pokémon Link! Battle doesn't offer enough diversity to prevent repitition. 57/100
Personally speaking, I think the game sucks (though this is just my opinion), and it would be my second eShop purchase I'd want a refund for (the first on being Johnny Hotshot...).
I ended up buying this because a friend wanted to play multiplayer.
At first I wasn't impressed, but playing multiplayer was awesome. It made the game ao much worth it.
We were three people playing, and we had strategize and cooperate to unlock the secret pokemon and still compete for the most points. The boss battles were specially fun, these legendary pokemon are very unpredictable in what they can do.
Me getting 9800 damage done on giratina was my personal highlight of the night, we even got an S for that mission.
It also helped me unlock some strong mons that will make the single player mode better.
The only thing i hate about this game is that it sometimes requires you to get high combos to unlock a pokemon. Getting high combos is pure luck.
This is something that will make me put this game away.
@Sinister You do know you can keep moving pokemon around after you make a match, right? A combo in this game is basically just making a lot of matches really quickly.
