Topic: Old 3DS Titles With New Nintendo ID

I'm going to ask a question here that is likeliest been answered in many forms already, but I just got here so I know nothing.

I recently purchased a used 3DS with the previous owner's ID and game purchases still on the system. I would like to import my Nintendo ID onto the system, but I've heard that by doing so it will wipe the SD card and system memory clean. Is there a way I can do what I need to do with out refreshing the system?

I had an idea. All of the games he purchased have been saved to the SD card. I thought maybe I could swap out the ID card for a fresh one and input my Nintendo ID there. Then, I could swap back to the old card and have the games and previous purchases still intact. Does that sound feasible or are this kid's games attached to his ID too?

@Jaimetud
I don't think it gonna work.
Do System Reset from System Setting and you can start Clean from Beginning.

But won't that delete the games already installed?

The games are attached to his ID. If you want to keep the games, you should use his account as yours. I don't know if you can change the nickname (maybe you should contact nintenfo for that) but the Mii and other personal information can be changed. You should also modify the mails attached to the account, since he would still get access to your account. Ask for the password of the account since he sold everything to you and modify those aspects.

I would, but I've never met the guy face to face. I bought this from a game trading store. The guy sold it to them and didn't delete his information off of it.

@Jaimetud You should contact Nintendo then... but I think that you'll have to end up deciding between having your ID account and losing the games or keeping his account and be able to access the games. Sorry to not be really helpful mate, but I don't know if you have any other options.

NNIDs are locked to 1 specific Nintendo system. The only way you can get around this is to call nintendo. They will want history of purchases and even the last 4 of the card that was used before they transfer it. And if you're lucky to get the transfer itll take up to 7 business days to process.
