I loved the original Nintendogs, but I didn't like having to wait for everything in real-time and Nintendo Power claims you can't time travel in this one. Would you guys say this is something you'd turn on for 15 minutes or something you could play for hours on end? I've read mixed opinions about this from reviewers, but I'd be more trusting of the opinions of the people here, who are obviously into this game. I'd like to join in on the fun, but I'm not going to blindly blow $40.
I don't know why would you want to play this more than 1 straight hours. But i sometimes find myself just seeing my dog do random stuff for a long time... Also, being able to enter enless contests would be like abusing your dog, and nintendon't want that.
My dog is getting thin but i am sure i am fedding it
Definitely something to fiddle around with for half an hour and then pop in something else. But it's very very good as that sort of game.
My dog also has just gone from 'skinny' to 'underfed' despite me cramming food in his face whenever his hunger level is anything more than 'normal'. Guess it's time to give him some wet food!
Oh, by the way, has anyone tried slaloming through the random road cones that appear while walking your dog?
It's fun.
yeah sometimes you get cool things for that. but your dog is not allowed to touch one of the cones. soemtimes it is hard when your dog has sniffled something right near a cone xD
i think the more dogs you have the more time you will need every sitting. you can do 2 competitions with a dog on one day. if you have 2 dogs you can do 4 of course. and so on...
i think you can play it for like an hour but then you have done everything till the next day. but thats the point of these games. almost the same as with animal crossing. you cant play animal crossing for 3 hours or so. only if you are cheating
There is a limit in the amount of competitions you can enter of each type daily. So you can enter the obedience trials, lure racing and the catching competition twice daily.
When you first get the game the competition limit isn't really an issue for the obedience trials since you need to teach your Nintendog more tricks to enter the later competitions and the game limits the amount of tricks that can be learned to 3 daily.
Items and dog breeds are unlocked by gaining owner points and walking your Nintendog using the Pedometer option seems to awards items are that unavailable from stores or hard to find.
@Mowzle - The 3DS clock helps determine if you have reached the daily limit for the amount of tricks learned and competitions per day but from what I have seen doesn't affect the state of the dog when the system is off. The reviewer may have mentioned issue with time because some people may have changed there clock to attempt to bypass the daily limits for both Nintendogs and 3DS playcoins which doesn't work and can actually effect entering competitions.
I was walking my dog today and a sign showing a picture of the silhouette of a person walking a dog showed up. My Shiba walked up to it like it does with every sign, and the message "Would you like to take the Secret Path?" showed up. I chose yes. (Of course) The area I was taken to next looked like a normal road at first, but after a couple seconds of walking I could see that this was no ordinary road. It was packed with rows of cones! The rows were particularly close together and made it very hard for my dog to shimmy between them. I managed, with much effort, to do most of them and I got a top hat and some recyclable junk. Pretty neat, though! I'll post a picture later. I don't have my SD Card-USB converter with me at the moment.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
Wow, i want to see that! My first cones gave me a pair of black shades (which look awesome on my dog, i may post a picture later), the rest i have done gave me recyclables.
Waliking with my dog on pedometer mode always gives me cat snacks... And i have no cats!
A bit of info a random mii gave me: Dogs should only pee on grass patches. I wish i could see my mii while on the park or the cafe. Why can i see other miis and not mine.
This is a picture of the secret path I mentioned yesterday. I forgot to mention that on top of all those rows of cones, there were one or two gifts lying around. Midnight and I have really been practicing in the Lure competition! We're currently practicing for the Master Cup! The new thing here is that the hurdles are much higher. And lastly, I was messing around with the AR cards and when I used the Mario card, instead of that butt-ugly Toad cap, my dog got a Luigi cap! Awesome!!
I just checked out my dogs' stats, and Connor, the Sheltie, went up from Plump to Overfed. What are the effects of this? Connor doesn't look any different...well, in the picture he looks kinda fat, but he's always looked that way, because he's a sheepdog and they have a lot of fur. Does it sound like I'm making excuses for my dog's weight? D:

Better walk him some more. My dog is usually plump, but never overfed.

Now that I think about it, I have been neglecting to walk him, due to my excitement over Midnight's recent drastic increase in performance.
I just found the secret route again! I took a picture of the sign this time. Look for this sign!

yeah i also had one secret path yesterday. but the mountains were left and on the right ther were houses like on the normal route.
i have a cat now. but i cant give her a name... is that normal? i really wanna name her rainbow because she is all grey and i gave her a chain mad eof flowers around her neck. looks cute^^
