Topic: Nintendo should run ads at 3d theaters

OK, it was still funny.

True. I believe Nintendo will surprise us with a 3D tv and with no DVDS and GLASSES! My dad says were in a age where we can create something different than CDs and DVDs to listen to and watch movies.

I don't believe the theaters will advertise for 3DS. Like I said earlier I believe Nintendo will advertise on tv channels and mags, maybe billboards and posters in GameStop and other game stores.

@TheBlackDragon, My cousin who is rich well his dad is buying a 3D tv and buying 4 glasses which is costing him quite a pretty penny, I can't believe 4 3D glasses cost 1000$ dollars a piece! Anyway they won't have to go to the theater anymore. No way I would pay that for 3D glasses.

... are you trying to say that your cousin's example is the example everyone else will follow, thus proving your half-prediction of the 3DS replacing movie theaters true? that's probably the most loltastic thing I've heard today, but if not, i don't get what you're trying to say, lol.

Ok I don't understand what your saying. But I will explain what I mean, I'm saying not a lot of people will buy the 3D tv because it cost so much, and they will contiue going to theaters, until Nintendo makes a 3D tv without glasses! Only which wealthy people could afford 3D tvs, which my family is not able to afford and a lot of other people. Anyway like I was saying I hope Nintendo will make a 3D tv without DVDS or 3D glasses, and have a good price so everyone can afford it.

Oh and yes the 3DS does half replace the theaters. But not all the way.

Um, JadeGirl, Nintendo is a GAMING company. That means they don't make TVs. Sorry.

I know that, but it would totaly be compatible with the Wii and when your playing on the Wii it would be 3D.

It defeats the purpose of what the 3DS is supposed to do.

Kiosks would work, I mean, Sony and M'soft's doing it with Move and Kinect.

It'd totally work. Mocking the use of 3D glasses in the theater adds humor to an impressive display of 3D gaming and will stay in ad viewers memories. They need a way to get people to stores to play with the kiosks after all. An impressive visual display will do that. The argument that "It doesn't need glasses, so people will get confused watching ads with glasses," is sort of BS. I'm sure there will be commercials on TV that won't be able to be in 3D. If they can tell people that the console is 3D in a 2D ad, then they can effectively tell people that the 3DS doesn't need glasses for 3D in a theater with people wearing glasses. It also SHOWS them how impressive 3D gaming could be, which is still a step up from any other advertising method.

You also have to factor in that many people watching 3D movies paid more for their ticket for the 3D effect OR drove out of their way to get to a theater with 3D capabilities. What better target audience for a 3D gaming system?

It would be stupid to not do it.

That's a great idea! I mean Nintendo has a DSi XL stand where you can play on it, why not have a 3DS stand. I bet stores would have lines for people wanting to try it out.

I agree with JadeGirl's earlier comment; word of mouth is huge. People just need to know a friend of a friend who verified that the thing worked and worked well. After that, it is the anticipation that will bring people in to buy, they will need to experience it for themselves.

That being said. I saw the DSi being demoed in Columbus, OH last holidays, the buzz was huge. That would be a lot of friends of friends spreading the word. They will not have you put glasses on to experience the 3DS.

The 'hook' of personnal 3D is intriguing enough. I bought a Wii at launch without a demo to get me excited. I would say that was true for millions of people.

I think Nintendo's next console shouldn't need a TV to run. It could be a holographic projector that you can carry around with you, that portrays a fully 3D (or 2D if you wish) display, and uses a classic-style, but sleek controller with buttons. Anyone think it's a good idea?

@LuWiiGi: it'd be too obtrusive for a handheld, I think. Part of the handheld gaming experience is being able to not bother the people around you with what you're doing (you wouldn't be able to hide a 3D projection from other people), and I know I wouldn't want people I didn't even know on a bus or train thinking I suck at video games if i'm having a particularly bad day, lol.

... unless you're talking home console, in which case I wouldn't really want to carry it around with me...? that kind of thing would be pretty neat as a home console, but it'd have to be a pretty strong projector in order for the images to be solid enough for decent gameplay.

@theblackdragon I intended for it to be a home console, but one that doesn't need to be plugged in and isn't too big so you can take it to different places (like a friends' house). Anyway, there probably isn't a holo projector with a strong enough image for decent gameplay, it was just an idea.

I like your idea, I went to a few sites and I saw some rumors awhile back about the same thing your talking about, but Nintendo came back and corrected the rumors, Nintendo says they would create no holographic projector. But you never know Nintendo could come to us and set the holographic projector right in front of us in the next E3, not that I'm saying that will happen.

@Plastifish, I know for myself I tell my friends and people I have never met in stores about the new things coming to us Nintendo fans and they are already telling there friends and others about the new system, in fact I tell the people in stores you should not buy the DSi because theres a 3DS coming soon and the people said I wont buy this I will just wait till it comes out.

This kind of reminds me of the Simpsons Movie when Homer called all the people in the cinema stupid for watching something in a cinema they could see for free at home.

I'm beginning to think Nintendo will only advertise with commercials on tv, stands in all the gaming stores, BestBuy, Fry's, Walmart, Target, and fans spreading the word through texting, email, word of mouth, meeting people in the library, online games like Maple Story, WoW, Poptag and many other online games.
