You will not lose any license and you can just re-download, but there might be an easier way someone else knows. I haven't dealt with the New 3DS yet, just upgrading from the original to the normal XL

Thank you for your answer

So, you are suggesting to do what i said?

Example: if i have 15 GB of games, i delete some to make them became 4GB total and i do the system transfer??

Can you confirm that i will not lose the license to play the deleted games and that it will not remain tied to my old system??
Because i plan to sell it...

I didn't have the Pokedex Pro 3D installed on my old system when I did the transfer but I was able to download it after on my XL. Also I got the Mario & Luigi Dream Team XL and was still able to download the game after the transfer. You will not lose any licenses.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Ok awesome thanks for the replies but I have another question. The sd card on my old 3ds is 16GB and I have nearly used all the storage space, and I read that the new 3ds comes with a 4gb micro sd, so does that mean I have to set up the new 3ds and then go out and buy a 16gb micro sd card and then do the system transfer to make sure I don't run out of space?

Yes, you will need to buy a new microSD card.

hey all, i have a question i hope someone can help me with. i went to pre order a new 3ds monster hunter bundle, and they said i have to pay for it all up front. but they also have a $100 trade in for my old 3ds, and they said to get it i had to give them my old one right now, a month before the new one gets here. how am i supposed to transfer my system to the new one when i have to give it to them a month before i get the new one? i really want the monster hunter one but i dont know how to do it. anybody have any ideas???

You will need to buy the Monster Hunter 3DS upfront without the trade in credit. Keep the receipt though, and when you get your new 3DS and perform the transfer, take your old one in for the $100 refund. Make sure to communicate this with the staff ahead of time to avoid any nasty surprises.

ok thats exactly what i asked the guy but he said i couldnt do that. i even asked if i could just get the $100 in store credit instead of the cash back and he still said no. any other suggestions?
@CaviarMeths

I'm in the same boat as you. gamestop won't do it. I did find a solution for myself. I went on craigslist and found an excellent 3ds with pokemon x for 80 bucks. still reaching out to the guy but if it works out it can be a win. 100 bucks for the trade in plus the pokemon x trade in. Now i'm not suggesting you go out and do this but this is my attempt to get the discount.
