High rank Silver Rathalos is still destroying me. I realised that I still had some empty decoration slots, so I've added some things to get a small defence boost. I'll try Silver again another day, and if I fail again then I'll just ask for help.
G-rank silver is a serious pain. Although I was trying to use a weapon that I am not that accustomed with to beat him, but that guy keeps doling out flying fireballs and homing poison swipes.
G-rank Gold Rathian however is much much worse. Fireball AOE, tail whip, tail sweep, rinse and repeat. That thing gave me more problems than Furious Jang, I am not kidding >.< She wasn't as problematic in 3U that's for sure.
Nintendo fan, with a taste for all genres! Monster Hunter for the win!
High rank Silver Rathalos still refuses to die to me, even though I've had quite a lot of tries on it. Last battle, I got to 45 minutes before I was carted for the 3rd time. I would ask for help, but I'm feeling strangely determined to solo this mission. Maybe when I reach Gold Rathian or Dalamadur, then I might seek help.
Plus, I've been using the wrong weapon all this time. I thought I'd be best at it with my Insect Glaive, but I'm spending too long trying to steal the essences from the monster. Plus, I realised that the weapon is a dragon type, which is terrible for Silver. I'll give my Water Longsword a try instead.
@crimsontadpoles
Well if you know Charge Blade nicely, it is also a valid candidate.
His charges in the air, and his fireballs are much more punishable via guard points compared to the much more annoying Gold Rathian. Plus CB racks damage nicely even without guarding (or guard pointing) much, although it makes you much more invincible.
That's what I used, although I do mostly get best timings with IG. GS experts are an entirely different case though xD
@LasermasterA Thanks for the tips. I've never really used Charge Blade before. It's one of those weapons where I'm put off it because it looks so complex. Since I always like to try new weapons with each new game, maybe I'll get into CB once Generations is out.
As for my High Rank Rath problem, I'm going to make a new Insect Glaive with the Thunder element, which should allow me to deal damage much quicker than my Dragon Insect Glaive.
Anyone up for a arena hunt or regular in general?
I have one character who JUST got into the grand hall and another in low rank.
(3DS have been broken for months, I might be a little rusty.)
@Tsurii I'm looking into the thunder insect glaive from Kirin parts at the moment. I've done almost no expeditions so far, so hunting parts for this weapon makes a pleasant change and I'm quite enjoying it.
If I find out that I can't upgrade it enough in order to beat Silver Rathalos, then I'll just ask for help here instead.
What Rank is it? I may want to join.
I have some thunder weapons that may help you out!
Also, have you tried gunning it? Bring a shock trap and materials to make more, some barrel bombs L, and a good rapid fire thunder gun?
With you trapping it all the time and dishing out bullet after bullet-plus the Large Barrel Bombs- you're bound to rack up some good damage on him.
High rank Silver Rathalos is what I'm stuck on. I've not tried using a gun before, so I'll stay away from those weapons and maybe try them out on Generations once that is released
I have faith you can solo it. I remember now it was Gold Ian I was having such a hard time with. Plus I used that silver Rath armor set all the rest of the way to G rank. I'm primarily a GS user though.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
@crimsontadpoles Well one of his nuisances is the tail. You could get a good Long Sword to cut it off. You could also bring a Hammer or a Hunting Horn to Exhaust him more often, leaving him nearly hopeless against some major punishment.
