....What?! It went back to the Spiky Shell?! T.T
(I loved the jet sound the Blue Shell made, lol)

EDIT: By the way they left out the Metal Cap...or is it a Metal Mushroom?
EDIT2:....Yeah ok, just saw a video, never mind then. xD
A Metal Cap item would be cool though.

I quite liked the POW block and the blue shell and lightning are what makes Mario Kart Mario Kart. Not sad to see no mention of the thundercloud, that's item is just rude especially when you get it when you're second but well behind first. Good to see the Bob-omb and blooper items from the newer Kart's back and less good to see the bullet bill back.

I would assume that as others have said the big tires drop your top speed (paradoxically) and maybe boost acceleration on the road and give you an offroad bonus. The small tires will probably do the opposite and the medium tires are somewhere in the middle. Presumably if you get a large kart with small tires you'll be able to get very high top speeds..... but be in lots of trouble if someone hits you with a blue shell near the finish.

As long as the thundercloud is gone I'm happy.
That thing tends to annoy me so much.

I've never really saw a point in the Blooper on Mario Kart DS....same could be said for the 3DS version. Unless they fixed that part. (you know, where you can't rely on the map, lol)

It makes the computer players nice to you by pretending it's affecting them.

Nintendo should allow Play Coins to be used for this game. Maybe use 10 coins to start w/ a power-up on multi-player matches or unlocking vehicles etc. Heres hoping!

Love my 3DS and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate!
Oh and Suda 51, where is No More Heroes 3?

Nah, not in multiplayer. That would be a little unfair IMO.

But being able to unlock new cars would be cool. More games should definitely make use of the play coins. They're a cool addition.

That's exactly how I've always thought about they were affected by the blooper! XD

You need a balance of items otherwise it gets boring. It's useless but that's part of the reason why it's good to have in there.

I was thinking maybe tihe 7 you can only get when you're 7th or it is really rare but if you get it when you're 1st, 2nd or 3rd I gives you one of the good items (Fire flower, Bullet bill, Star, etc) Kind of like that item box on the snowy hill on DK pass.

The bad thing about Mario Kart Wii was the unfair use of the blue shield. Double Dash had the blue shield as well, but it was used so much better. I don't mind lightning and the pow block because only people in the back get it and everyone in front of them is affected by it (or everyone other then themself when it's about the lightning). So I don't mind those powerups at all. If they just use the fair item use like in Double Dash, I'll be a happy man (oh and add a goomba as a playable character ).

Oh, the blue shell doesn't have wings anymore! So, If it would travel on the ground and someone else hit it before it hits the lad in the front, (s)he'll get blown up? Sounds better to me actually. Oh, also good that the thundercloud and the POW Block don't return: They won't be missed. (by me, that is)

About the 7: Maybe it gives your character a special ability (like in DD). Like the fireball (Mario/Luigi) or the big banana (Dk/Diddy K)

Changed name: Old name was JDT!
Ponies will take over the world. Just deal with it.

Yeah. They suddenly start driving in this cool squiggly line!

Blue shell doesn't have wings anymore? Awesome, just like Mario Kart 64. I always wanted them to go back to that. At least this way others may get hit, too. Blue shell is odd because it usually gets used by the guy in last but mostly helps the guy in second (in the short term, that is).

The blue shell without wings does help the player in second, more times than not. With wings, and if the player in first take notice and is not too far from the player in second, they can at least position themselves close to the player in second to affect them too since it's a small area effect.

SuperToad

Adam

Without wings, there is the possibility of hitting any one in between the player who fired it and the first player. With wings, it shoots over all those players and it is very easy to position yourself away from the player in first to avoid the blast radius. I have never had a problem avoiding it in MKDS or DD.

SuperToad

That's the appeal with wings to have strategy. Who doesn't enjoy seeing the blast in a far off distance? It's less strategic wingless, being more about getting lucky to affect players other than the two players within distance competing to be in second place if they take notice.

SuperToad

Adam

I don't see what it has anything to do with strategy. Strategy is long-term planning. This is, "Oh, a blue shell is coming" followed by steering off to the side or tapping the brake. Not exactly rocket science. I don't think it's bad either way, but I am glad the grounded shell is coming back if an earlier post is to be believed.
