Topic: Luigi Playthough Super Mario 3d Land

So i beat all of the levels in 3d Land and 3 stared most of them (a few at the end of the specials were a bit too frustrating). I've heard that you can play through again with Luigi to give you more stars in the title screen but when I switch characters the star coins in each level are still clear and there is no notification if I have played it with one character or the other. It doesn't feel like a real extra but instead it just feels as if I am playing an already beaten level.

At the bottom right corner it shows a flag and an M for Mario and L for Luigi get to the top of the flag in each stage get every coin and beat every stage with both Mario and Luigi and you will unlock the final stage which is also the hardest.

To clarify, on the top screen on the level select screen, there should be several icons in the bottom right corner

A gold flag, which indicates that you got the top of the flag pole in that level.

Once you beat every level in the game, another set of icons will appear
An M icon will appear if you beat the level with Mario
An L icon will appear if you beat the level with Luigi

To unlock the final level, you need to
Get a gold flag for ever level
Get all the star coins
Beat each level with Mario
Beat each level with Luigi

So do you need to get star coins with both characters because when I switch between Mario and Luigi the coins are still clear since I got them my first time through?

No just with one character.

I decided to start ALL over, and after just a couple days I have 5 glittery stars. Now to spend 1,000 more hours trying to get to 10,000 vr in Mario Kart.

I'm currently playing through it with Luigi for the second time. I will do the same for 3D World at some point

The only one I haven't beaten with Luigi as well was the final level. It's simple: I already went through the level with Mario, so I wouldn't really be excited to do it again. It was hard the first time, I was really pumped when I finally beat it the first time, but I don't feel like doing it again for the extra icon. I've tried, but I just don't care.

Usually I try to complete and unlock everything in every game I get(as long as it wouldn't take years to do it or something), even the really bad ones, but the "repeat the exact same stuff another time" trope gets to me because it feels like a cheap way to extend the replay value of a game. If I wanted to replay the game, I would replay it by choice. (I still like the game a lot, though, don't get me wrong on that.)
