Sorry for double posting, but after spending some time with the game, I have to say I'm really liking it!
There are some differences in gameplay & style, but there are definite nods to Mega Man in here (then again, I've only played Dr. Wily's Revenge, so what do I know). Level 9 in particular, reminded me of Elec Man's level in DWR.
Just beat the second boss, which I thought was pretty creative.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
Just found this article while browsing a different gaming site on how Clive could revitalize the shooter genre (sort of). The interview within is exclusive, I believe, so it's probably worth a read if only for that.
I just finally bought this. This is pretty cool. The music is really disappointing but the 3D effect is gorgeous and the art style is cool. I beat the first world and I'm liking it.
So, who wants to try and list all of the game referrences in the game? I'll start:
Mega Man - most obvious. Lots of later levels have a Mega Man type design, and a couple of enemies (The gunmen that pop out of the ground, like those helmet wearing things in MM, and those turrets that pop up and shoot a bullet spray).
Donkey Kong Country - Mine Cart level.
Super Mario Bros 2 (U.S.) - Female character has brief floating ability.
Bionic Commando - Third boss.
Zelda II - First part of final boss.

I had lots of fun trying to achieve the Star Times, though it was frustrating at times due to a lot of random elements. So although you had the exact path set, you had to be trying the same stage over and over until everything clicked together!
Nicely done, Stokos. Thanks for posting the times.
I'm having the most difficulty with the duck hitting these time requirements because I'm playing them on hard and can only take one hit. Really fun challenge though.
A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs. It's jolted by every pebble on the road.
FYI, I just signed onto the eShop and the update that fixes the glitches was available for me here in North America.
Same, funny though, the creator said he didn't know when the patch would reach in NA but it came last night.

Downloaded the patch and tried the train level and there was no lag or whatever, so it's all good and so I never once experience the lag.

Good to know. I will download when I get home today.

Get creative! There are a lot of shortcuts you can take with the duck that can shave off a couple of seconds
Can someone tell me how to time the mushroom jumps to get the bounce? I can't seem to find the sweet spot and it is leading to a lot of frustrating deaths.

Well, in case anyone else has had trouble with this it seems to be a fraction of a second later than what seems intuitive--that is based on the use of "bouncy items" in most other games. Maybe this was obvious to everyone else, but it was driving me crazy. Otherwise a fantastic game. A must buy.

Watch the animation of your character, when he puts the gun facing down you can jump higher. Thats what I did anyway!

me too, the first time i played that stage, i was like "damn! i can't get the proper timing of bounce"... but i know you'll get the proper timing. just play that level a few times... it's like knowing the proper timing of start boost in mario kart 7 XD
Okay, my OCD is kicking in.
I just downloaded the update, I think. I did the download later and shut my 3DS.
But when I check in data management I don't see anything, like you do with the Mario Kart 7 update.
I just have the regular Gunman Clive 250 showing up in Software.
Is that what you guys or girls have?
