A new Dungeon Crawler RPG comes out on the eShop next week, this one seems a bit more chaotic then your normal crawler! there is 50 levels with 5 bosses, the game also got a anime style which looks pretty good, hundreds of items to get, upgrade, repair and sell, with all this going on it might be a worth while game to look out for!

Sp00ky scary skeleton back to play games and dew other fine things indead!

I’m not going to recommend Excave. Even though It’s not very expensive at $4.99, it should be $0.99. If you buy it, the first thing you’ll notice is that it’s not 3D. The second thing is how rudimentary the whole feel of the game is. Graphics are okay, but nothing special. Music gets annoying and repetitive. After putting 30 minutes into play this game, it feels very predictable. Basic dungeon, search for treasure chests with keys to unlock doors, fight bouncing blob balls of different colors and sizes (I haven't played long enough to see other monsters). Collect money to buy items/equipment or repair equipment that gets broken after a period of usage. One of the most annoying things about the game is equipping the character while in battle. When your weapon goes to a “broken” state, you have to switch to another one that you hopefully have in your inventory. Sliding the weapon from inventory to equipping can be frustrating using the touchpad with a finger, so it’s best to have a stylus ready to perform that task.

Overall it feels like a game that you’d buy in the 1980s more than a game for modern consoles and graphics.

Does anyone know if the game features randomly or procedurally generated dungeons? I'm so sick of asking that question, I feel like I have to constantly ask lol.

This is something i would also like to know. Random generated dungeons give a dungeon crawler far more replayability in my opinion.

It's a fairly low tech game, so I'd be surprised if it has randomly generated levels. Another minus about this game is that you only get one save slot, so to verify randomly generated levels I’d have to start all over again.

I’m not that far into it, so restarting wouldn’t only cost me the 30 minutes of playing around with it yesterday. I’ll post what I find

I feel like a modren Dungeon Crawler needs Multiplayer to help keep the game fresh. (I haven't played Excave)

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Just confirmed by completely restarting the game. It doesn't regenerate new mazes. Everything is the same

That is a disappointment for sure.

Since I got a new SD card, I can start buying eShop games again, and I started with this.

As for my first impressions, it's seems like it'll be a decent little RPG. Quickly figured out that it's like the Notes From the Abyss (DSiWare) games, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I was a bit confused at first, because after obtaining the third colored key (and any colored key after that) you're "stuck" in the room you got it, with seemingly no way to backtrack, until I realized you can go back to the main menu at any time (keeping the items you've earned).

Since there's no exit from the room, after you get the key you actually have to retreat from the dungeon, and re-enter at the beginning, where the appropriate door was near by.

Things are going smoothly now, though.

Okay, I completed the first "Area" last night, and have started on the second today, and I think I've figured out how the game is constructed.

When you first enter the dungeon there are 6 paths, 5 which are locked behind colored doors, and one which is open. Upon following the open path (which acts as sort of a gameplay tutorial) you'll come across a key that opens the first colored door.

Upon entering the first door, you'll be in the first "Area" of the dungeon, which itself is split up into four paths (3 locked doors, and an open path). Following the open path, you'll find a key that opens up the first "Section" in this "Area". By completing each "Section", you'll get a key that opens up the next "Section", until you finish & complete the 4th & final "Section". At that point, you'll obtain a key that opens up the second "Area", way back at the entrance of the dungeon (which itself is split up into four "Sections", which you'll have to complete in the same fashion to open up the third "Area", rinse, wash, repeat).

It should be noted, that there'll be more than just the 5 bosses mentioned in the OP (I haven't beaten it yet, but I've discovered the pattern). Again, each "Area" is split into 4 "Sections", and at the end of the first three "Sections" is a mini-boss that's just a larger varient of whatever is the dominant enemy species in that section. At the end of the 4th "Section" however, is that "Area's" true actual boss, that you'll need to beat in order to get to the next "Area".

In short there are 6 "Areas". The first is a tutorial path, while the other 5 are split into 4 "Sections" each, and have 3 mini-bosses & a true boss to beat.

Sorry for the triple post, but man this game gets annoyingly difficult later in.

I'm in the second section of area 4, and there's one floor that's made up of small corridors, and there's enemy spawning tiles in pretty much every lane (usually 2 a lane, actually). It's not long before every enemy on the floor swarms you from all sides, and you can't even just run through the floor to the next one (the corridors are small enough that you need to kill anything in front of you to move on, instead of avoiding it, and by the time you kill something, there are two more to take it's place, thanks to the spawning tiles...). AAUUGGH!
