Just got a 3DS XL today, and I've been poking around the eShop. I have a couple of questions:
1. Where's FlipNote Studio? Can't seem to find it at all. Using the search function only returned some videos. I had a peek in the DSi Ware section (it's a DSi Ware app, isn't it?) but the thought of clicking through 38 pages of apps scared me away. I saw that there's a Flipnote Studio 3D on its way, but is it possible to download the original in the meantime?
2. Does the EU eShop see many sales? I noticed on Nintendo Life that the US store had a bunch of nice discounts last week, but if there was a news item about similar discounts on the EU store then I missed it. Right now it seems that the only game on sale in the EU eShop is Marvel Pinball. Is this just a quirk of how promotions are rolled out in the different regions on different dates...or has the US eShop tended to feature more sales than the EU, historically?

(Hmm. Is it weird that one of the main things I was looking forward to, once I owned a 3DS, was a free, throwaway animation app?)
(No, I was quite excited for it as well, since I missed out on the DSi. I was a but bummed out when I found out they were not offering it, but Flipnote Studio 3D looks like it is better, and totally worth the long wait.)
Yes they're shutting down the servers for the original FlipNote, and the online FlipNote 3D service will be a paid subscription (with a chance to earn free subscription months if you get high ratings)
You'll still be able to share FlipNote 3D animations using streetpass though.

I've seen that video but not sure why it was directed at me. The TC here wanted to know about it, not me, so perhaps he should be the one you show it to. I was just illustrating the fact that it was promised to us and wasn't here yet. Hulu Plus on 3DS was promised to us over 19 months ago and it's still not here yet. Nintendo can promise all they want but their reputation still stands, imo, as one that requires me to say, "I'll believe it when I see it."
