Topic: Capcom refused to let Inafune complete Mega Man Legends 3

From My Nintendo News.

“So, I told them that I was going to found my own independent company and leave Capcom. However, I stated that I was ready to make a contract with them so that I could keep working on those projects that I started. I couldn’t start making contracts with other publishers for sure if Capcom agreed to the proposition, but I wanted to see those projects that I started to completion. But it couldn’t be done. They answered, ‘We have no need to do that.’”

“[I went to the trouble of]…Finding the right time, gathering the team members, planning strategies, all so we could barely start on Mega Man Legends 3. I really don’t want to quit at this crucial moment…but I can’t keep going at Capcom. I am too tired to keep going. I wanted to leave Capcom to recharge my energy, and support Capcom from there, but it seems they don’t allow it. I want to make all my effort to keep Legends 3 alive, but I’m really not sure I can do it.”

And then they announced Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, which could have been added as DLC. Why, Capcom? ._.

Not at all surprised by this but I've already accepted that it got cancelled and moved on. I am glad that we are getting Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney and hopefully both Monster Hunter games on the 3DS.

I want it so badly though. Capcom needs to learn.

Megaman Legends 3 is dead. DEAD. Just let it go, there's nothing we can do about it. I'm sure its for the best, Capcom said themselves that chances are "slim" on continuing the development for the game. That announcement of UMvC3 was the one that upset me though. Makes my current game obsolete. I will never get the first version of any Capcom fighting game ever again. UMvC3 Vita was announced, so I will get that instead.
I just hope Capcom has the heart to release the Monster Hunter games outside Japan, I really liked what I played on their PSP titles.

So what you're saying is that Capcom sucks, they act like a petulant child, and when they're even offered a good deal to get something done, they pull the child act and slam the door shut as they're not getting entirely what they want, other than scamming people for DLC worthy stuff as disc games. I barely if ever buy from them anymore, the suits and bean counters are the leading reason why.

don't worry, I'm sure some far more intelligent individual will tell you how it is impossible to make money without everyone hating you and how you should be defending this company solely because it makes some wise business decisions. Just like all consumers should properly act.

You got that backwards my friend, why would we need yet another 8-bit game from an area that has been beaten into the ground when we could have something that hasn't been done a million times and certainly had more potential to be amazing? This really is nothing short of tragic.

Well to be honest at this point I'd prefer an open world Megaman game over having to re-fight bosses that were already a pain in the butt to begin with! Seeing how Capcom is treating Megaman lately you minus well start crying Waveboy. Doesn't seem like we'll get an 8-bit Megaman for a long time. I would love one so much though.
The only reason I'd prefer legends right now is because I've beaten 2, working on 3 and Dr. Willy's revenge, and beaten X. I want something different. Besides some people have been waiting ten years on this sequel and Capcom just cancels it. It's for the best (for their profit) but it's cruel to the fans.

Hey man, its the new big thing to whine about on the forums. That and how the Vita is in deep, deep trouble, of course.

I have to agree with Mickeymac on this one.

Also, each classic Mega Man game has its own contained story (and repetative ones, at that). MM Legends has a continually running storyline that was pretty much left at a cliffhanger and will now probably never see completion.

that's been pretty much my whole beef with the situation — first our hopes are gotten up that maybe the story will finally be finished, and now we have nothing. i wonder if they'd consider at least putting out the third chapter in manga form :/

Poor Inafune-san. I just feel bad for him. After all he did for Capcom in creating Mega Man, for them to turn around when he's gone and crap all over his projects and his legacy is just pathetic.

Scary to think what will happen to Nintendo when Miyamoto leaves. He's not getting any younger.
At least his legacy will be treated with more respect than Inafune's was.

Its sad. Maybe this is the reason why megaman has been a stagnet series. They wont even make a a sequel to the good 3D megaman games. Where going to end up with another gattle network game or hopefully a zx sequel.

Well I'm still disappointed even if I have moved on because I was really looking forward to MML 3. Alas, on to new and better things.
