go into the game
first step, go into you P.S.S on the bottom screen, at the top, there is a blue icon, press it and connect to the internet
then locate my name in your friend list, click on my icon, and say trade
or, if I start the trade, just accept
you need to connect to the internet in game for it to work

Honestly, I don't have anything noteworthy until Pokebank comes out. RIght now I just have my team, a box full of stuff you could catch anywhere, and a Quillidin with Bulletproof who is the only one who won't fit in box 1.

not very far in the game yet?
I've beaten it, but I just haven't bothered doing anything productive. Hunted all the mega stones and after I found them I lost interest in doing anything but battling the RL friends, until I got the idea for my team. Looks like I'll have to wait until December to get that team, huh? Heh.
