Only six days remain until the first part of Pokémon Sword and Shield's Expansion Pass unlocks, and Nintendo has shared a short new trailer to keep the hype rolling.
The Isle of Armor, the first of two portions to be served up by the Expansion Pass, is set to go live on 17th June. The second part, The Crown Tundra, will release in fall 2020. We've been gathering up facts on everything you need to know about both new adventures right here, and we also have an official description of The Isle of Armor for you below.
In The Isle of Armor expansion, you’ll head to The Isle of Armor, the stage of your new adventure in the Galar region. The Isle of Armor is a giant island full of environments not seen in Galar before—you'll find wave-swept beaches, forests, bogs, caves, and sand dunes!,There are also plenty of Pokémon that make this island their home, living freely amid the lush natural surroundings.,There’s even a dojo here that specializes in some very particular training styles! You and your Pokémon will take up an apprenticeship under the master of this dojo and train hard to become even stronger.
If you missed it earlier in the month, the Expansion Pass recently received this lengthier trailer, too.
Will you be checking out The Isle of Armor next week? Have you bought the Expansion Pass? Let us know with a comment below.

"Footage shown is still in development."->Releases next week
@mariomaster96 looks like a game that came out on 3ds
Looks great, can't wait for it to come out.
@Y2JayRome still same argue? WOW
How far in to the main game do you have to be to play this?
I returned this game after the 2nd gym and I would consider myself a huge pokemon fan. I have a living dex in Ultra Sun. Pokemon Showdown is doing me fine until the devs get their act together.
Really excited for this. Took me a while but the new wild area actually really hooked me and is the best thing about Sword/Shield. Glad they expanded on that for the two expansions and actually hope that they expand the whole system and make the next Pokémon game completely wild zone
If you hate SwSh that’s ok. If you think the Expansion is just some money grab, that’s ok. We are all entitled to our own opinions.
That being said, I’m so HYPED for this expansion. I cannot wait to jump in an explore this new area, meet these new characters and capture some new/more Pokémon. Me and my kids have been powering up our Pokémon in Max Raid battles together & trying to finish our Pokédex before the 17th. I’m digging the legendary Pokémon from Isle of Armor. Just gotta figure out which evolution I want to pick. Looking forward to many hours of more fun with this expansion.
@JokerCK I guess I only have myself to blame, I looked at Zelda BOTW and Mario odyssey and seen what leaps and bounds they made in the new entries and was expecting something similar to the latest Pokémon game.
Is this the first time "Autumn" has been referenced for The Crown Tundra? I thought it was due in Winter?
@Y2JayRome I'd agree with you. The Wild Area for me was an "almost" - imagine if they had just made the game so much more open world and binned off the routes. Maybe next time.
That said it was fun to go back into the world of pokemon but way too easy with virtually no challenge. Dynamxing was fun, mega evolution was way better.
I'm on the fence about the expansion, will see what the consensus is on release.
@Northwind This is such an underrated comment. It shocks me how few people realize that trailers tend to be made months in advance and are normally made from Beta builds. Even "release trailers" tend to be made from a build that's not the gold build. That's why if you get really nitpicky you can tell some differences from those trailers and the final game.
Spent over 600 hours playing this, completed dex and shinys galore! I will wait till there is more info on how much is added to the story mode in terms of gameplay rather than just catching/trading pokemon for the dex.
Still perplexed that there is no info on this and just trailers of areas/pokemon that are added.
I am happy with the free update. The dlc can wait. I will pay for one month of home, get all the new one pokemons, and breed. The rest can wait for when they release both of the dlc
@Aurumonado yup same here. Played and loved every Pokémon from the original red/blue days. This for whatever reason just didn’t click with me
@Y2JayRome,
I think you need to just move on fella, the visuals are nothing like the 3DS.
Are there any trainers in the 1st dlc pack other than the dojo?
Looking forward to this. Preordered and ready to go!
This trailer is not interesting.
I'm so ready for this. It's gonna turn the competitive metagame on its head! I'm ready to make new Pokemon, build new teams, do new raids and all around have a blast with this game!
Already put over 300 hours in base game Shield! Got a complete National Dex in Home. Good times!
guys stop trashing the DLC. dont play it go play animal crossing.
It seems they're repeating the Sword & Shield pre-launch saga by revealing not much information before launch. Either that or there's not enough content to justify a (should-have-happened) Treehouse Livestream demonstration.
Missed opportunity to say "Galar Dynamaxes", which they could follow up with "Galar Gigantimaxes" for the next wave (Hire me Nintendo, pls).
Anyway, looking forward to this. I'm almost done with the main campaign, so I'm looking forward to hopping into this and digging into training some Pokemon for online (I know it sounds silly, but I've never gotten the chance to do it before). More excited about the Crown Tundra tbh, but this looks cool.
@spoondriver take it you enjoying the dlc, with more emphasis on wild area?
@Y2JayRome I read some reviews and gave it a go. I'm actually enjoying it from the perspective you can just wander about and expand on the Pokédex. The quests are overly simplistic thus far and your new "rival" in Avery is just as annoying as Hop. Keeps scratching my Pokémon itch though until New Snap launches...
