Nintendo has launched a brand new website to help Splatoon 2 players get the most out of the game and join up with fellow Inklings and Octolings in the community.
Whether you're just starting out in the game, nervously dipping those squiddy tentacles into the colourful ink for the first time, or even if you're a Rank X powerhouse, Nintendo hopes you'll find the site useful. The homepage features a couple of tips sections for players at various levels, but the real meat of the site is dedicated to tournament play.
The site allows you to easily assemble your own teams, recruit new members, and join regular online tournaments. This looks particularly great for those who aren't surrounded by lots of Splatoon-playing friends, as you can simply sign up, head to the 'Find a Team' section, and be matched up with other solo players. Check out the website for yourself if you want to get involved.
The first tournament organised through the site begins on 13th January at 1pm GMT / 2pm CET and you can sign up to compete right now. At present, the site appears to exclusively accommodate players from several European countries; whether a North American version is also planned is currently unknown.
Have you been hoping to get into competitive Splatoon but needed your own squad of players? Let us know if this helps you out in the comments below.

I would like to find a team but not sure about competing in tournaments, perhaps if I'd get to know my team first.
@SamuraiPanda If you play ranked you'll be in the same team 🙂
Couldn’t this all be done better in game rather than building a separate website
Personally I wouldn't use this, I'm not competitive, but I applaud Nintendo for supporting the community! This also tells me that Splatoon 3 is farther off than I may have thought. I'm picking up Splatoon 2 ASAP! Edit: Just checked out the website, I'm sad that it doesn't have the cool effects of the normal Splatoon 2 website.
As a South African, I hope this rolls out to us as well. Splatoon is by FAR my most played game on the Switch.
Have you seen the mess of a discord channel they have created?
Hope that this comes to the US soon, I would love to participate
@janpampoen As an American, I face the same problem.
You know what would make things easier for people to play Splatoon 2 together? The ability to choose to play on the same team as your friend consistently. The ability to form parties and have voice chat built into the system. The ability to send a message on the system like "Hey, wanna play some turf war tonight?"
That would go a long way to helping average players co-ordinate.
I'm not bashing on Splatoon 2, I like the game a lot. Put a good 105 hours into it. But these are things Microsoft had figured out right over a decade ago... the only thing I would add are parental controls over the chat features. The ability to disable and hide it entirely from young children. The ability to approve certain friends of your child, the ability to see your child's messages, and the ability to allow full communication with specific approved friends only and not others. And the ability to limit communication to friends only (blocking messages from strangers) Thus allowing the parent to adjust it to whatever level they feel is appropriate. While allowing adults to do whatever they wish.
@SamuraiPanda You can play salmon run as well
@Heavyarms55 After putting well over 1000 hours in the original game my biggest hope was being able to have a 2 player online experience from one console. I figured with doing away with the Gamepad of the Wii U this would be feasible if playing in tv mode. That’s my biggest disappointment because I like to play with my wife but she doesn’t play enough games to warrant another Switch purchase. It’s more irksome when the other games allow you to bring a friend ie Smash, Arms, MK8, Rocket League, Mario Tennis etc.
@Mamabear I agree. I did hope to be able to do that too. It's not my number one issue personally because I don't do much couch co-op as all my friends live rather far from me at the moment, but it's something I completely agree should be in the game and is a strange omission.
@SamuraiPanda If you choose the Online Lounge option and invite friends through the Switch mobile app (iOS/Android), you can set up multiplayer matches with friends that includes Voice Chat. And if you don't have a full roster of friends, you can hit the ZL button to add randoms to fill the left-over slots. That's what I do!
@Mamabear i had same issue with my wife, i ended up buying a second switch on ebay since i had a extra dock and controllers i just bought the tablet cost me 150$ if you dont have a extra dock run to bestbuy the insignia dock is 40$ and it was on sale when i was there its confirmed compatible with 5.0 firmware one of the few 3rd party ones thats aproved.
I can't believe it only works for Europe. I assume it was because Nintendo of Europe's idea and Nintendo of America didn't want to get in on it.
Wish this was in USA. Hope they make Splatoon 3 that incorporates a lot of people's wishes for improvements.
@cb3 Probably not til the Switch 2
@Almighty-Koz That’s a good tip. I wouldn’t even need another dock since I play 99% handheld and I bought an extra charger so I can be lazy in bed 😂
This would have been wonderful a year or so back. With the game no longer receiving new content, and only a handful of Splatfests left, the timing seems a little off. Better late than never, I suppose.
@SamuraiPanda League and Salmon run are the best for playing together. And most players use discord for VC.
Nice, I'll have to check this site out
