Microïds and Frima Studio have announced that Super Chariot, an enhanced re-release of Chariot, will be launching on Nintendo Switch in May this year - and we'll even be getting a physical edition, too!
Taking on the role of the princess or her fiancé, players must take the coffin of the deceased King through platforming caves in search of a resting place deemed worthy by His Late Majesty. Featuring 25 colourful levels of platforming adventure, Super Chariot can be played solo but, as we mentioned in our review of the original game on Wii U, the focus here seems to be geared towards a two-player co-op experience.
The physical edition of the game will come with some extra goodies including the game, the Royal Gadget Pack DLC (which includes a new playable character and five new gadgets), and the original downloadable soundtrack, although this is only set to be available in Europe and Australia.
If you want to try out the game for yourself before you buy, a demo containing the game's first three levels is scheduled to hit the Switch eShop soon. Fans of 2D platforming challenges might like to give this one a go.

This is what I'm talking about people. Every day, more and more ports arrive. Testing the waters, me backside. Didn't care for it on Wii U, still don't care for it.
Pretty good fit for the Swiitch. Played the og on WiiU and had fun, but it didn't maintain our attention long enough to finish it.
Reminds me of every time I had to escort a wagon full of treasure in Sid Meyer's Colonization. Always had to have at least a Scout on the same tile, as even friendly Native would attack it unprovoked. Hauling it across the map to one of your seaside colonies was a challenge.
Anyway, looks fun. I already have Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime and Snipperclips for this kind of co-op, but more options don't hurt. And hey, another Wii U game on a system people actually own that would have been forgotten otherwise.
We already own the original, though I think as a port on PS3 or PS4, and it was one of those games we played once and never went back to b/c there is so much else to play.
Does seem like a perfect fit on Switch for 2 player co-op with the 2 Joycon. We'll try out the demo, could be good for long car rides.
My wife and I love this type of game... we played it on WiiU and it was pretty fun at first, and at times... but overall it didn't stay very exciting and we never finished it. Great idea, but a little shallow...
Now WHERE is "Ibb & Obb 2"???
At this point do I start saying that I'm sick of ports and releases. Surely it's been long enough where we could've been hearing about a chariot game with brand new levels?
News about ports usually don't bother me, but this one has triggered me somehow. I think its mostly because this game's title makes it sound like a sequel, so it's just extra disappointing to find out that its not.
If you're going physical, it'd be lovely to see something like a sticker sheet included.
Digital day one for me. More a minute release day one. Chariot is awesome!
Just tried the demo and really enjoyed it.
