You are correct. It's scaled down a bit, but it's based on the NES Adventure Island II cart. The NES version is better, but this is a good game if you're looking for short, but very challenging levels. Think of it as a concentrated version of the NES release. :)

Looking at this game I KNOW I have played a game in this series before. I had a GBC as my first console though so it might have been one of the GB games with colour slapped on. Playing this one doesnt feel as familiar though; it might have been the sequel I played.
