The Nintendo Official UK Store, unsurprisingly one of the UK's best destinations for new Nintendo games and merchandise, has been treated to a complete makeover with an all-new design.
The store has actually ditched its 'Nintendo Official UK Store' name to fall in line with the 'My Nintendo' branding seen in other countries. The whole site has had a bit of a shift around, with new drop-down menus, a new search field, and a completely revamped home page. You can visit it here.
The new site makes a bigger deal out of My Nintendo Rewards, making customers aware of the service on product pages and with a large banner on the home page, and there appears to be new 'Play Your Way' options, letting you browse games that fall into categories like 'Active Gaming' and 'Mental Wellbeing'.
The store's basic setup remains intact – you'll still get free delivery on orders over £20 and can sign in with your normal account – but what do you think to the new design? If you find yourself browsing Nintendo's store often, do you think this new look is a change for the better?

There seems to be a bigger change than just the layout.
You sign in using your My Nintendo account now rather than your old Nintendo UK Store account, they've been linked.
And as a result of selling My Nintendo rewards (bought with Platinum points) and exclusive items (NES / SNES controllers) through the UK store, they appear to now have the free shipping on orders over £20.
Meaning it appears you don't have to pay that pesky £7 shipping fee on reward or exclusive items. Can anyone confirm this?
There's an actual section for my nintendo exclusive items like the NES and SNES controllers, and the rewards too? Thank god, it was always a pain having to go to one site to select a reward, go to another to purchase, then pay a stupid amount of shipping too. Might actually get the my nintendo rewards now!
@RupeeClock The shipping is indeed free for £20+ orders, tested by adding the SNES controller to my cart. It also offers express shipping for £3.99, interestingly; I don't remember this being an option for the original UK store.
@Matl
The express shipping option is appreciated, since before it was always a gamble if you got something like Royal Mail or if you're unlucky, Hermes.
But items were usually shipped around 2 days before release date to get to you in time for release.
They should also improve the My Nintendo store in the rest of Europe.
They seem to have also used this opportunity to seemingly clear out a lot of products that were offered but haven't been in stock for a while like amiibos; some still appear to be on the website, but listings for a lot of them have disappeared (unless they are still migrating to the new layout? I don't know).
@Matl @RupeeClock I might be misremembering, but I am fairly sure the express shipping was there but you couldn't select express shipping for pre-orders.
Is this why my rewards is not available at the moment.
Have the prices fallen to a sensible level??? Enough said!
There's no 'Coming Soon' section in games....no more pre-order bonuses? No more pre-orders at all? That sucks.
Also when I select 'atest releases' under 'games' it still peppers Amiibo into the results.
I find it odd it's still 'register your interest' for Pokemon Snap. Even though the Amazon Nintendo UK store has it for sale.
Rather they do something with the Eshop to make it run better and have better lay out and navigation
Just purchased the SNES controller for the Switch. Free shipping is a big improvement over the crazy amount I had to pay when I ordered the NES controllers from the previous buggy My Nintendo Store that was separate from the Official UK Store (it appeared to be based in Germany and shipped from Germany, so maybe rewards stock is now warehoused in the UK).
And only recently I got my partner an Animal Crossing bag with platinum points and had to pay over £6 shipping--now it appears you can get free shipping if you combine it with other products of a monetary value, or you can pay the standard £1.99 shipping. It makes Nintendo Rewards a lot more attractive now.
@Dringo
It's more odd that they haven't started taking orders.
But I think this site relaunch is probably the reason why, they've avoided taking pre-orders during the transition period.
My guess is that they will launch pre-orders for New Pokémon Snap tomorrow, just a week ahead of the game's launch.
Probably with some exclusive bonus or something.
I'm also wondering if the My Nintendo link means being able to earn Gold points on store purchases.
They should use the same look for the rest of the website.
Way more ‘relaxing’ to look at.
Managed to find the amiibo section (games>enhance your play>amiibo, stupid menu nesting imo) but it's vastly reduced compared to before, only 39 products are listed and seemingly totally at random. Either this signals Nintendo are winding amiibo production down to a close, or there will be restocks of the harder to find figures to combat the ridiculous scalper prices. I hope the latter.
I also notice my wishlist from the store didn't transfer over, probably because half of the items are no longer listed
Sounds good if myNintendo rewards to the UK can combine shipping. Might actually start bothering to accumulate some points now!
Is it still being run by TheHutGroup though? I'd be a bit funny if my Nintendo credentials were being shared with that company as they are really bad, particularly their Zavvi brand.
I did get the e mail about the switchover and whether to opt out of merging my accounts but unfortunately forgot to actually opt out :/
Aaaaand it looks like it's crashed 😆
And that's one SNES Switch controller ordered.
Thanks for the heads up.
You can not filter for latest additions. That makes searching for new items a royal pain in the Ar&e.
What is it with site designers? If it ain’t broke why fix it!
Trying to buy digital games on their websites can be a nightmare sometimes.
Thanks NintendoLife for making me spend £71 on a pair of joy con I don't need, but most certainly wanted. Nice to see them available for the first time outside of Japan I believe.
Edit: Outside of the console bundle itself of course
Holy moly, the new site actually does the cookies notification in accordance with the law too! I am really impressed with that actually 😂
Sites are supposed to say "Accept all Cookies" and make it easy to "Reject all Non Essential Cookies" but most websites have a convoluted system of ticking loads of boxes before you can do the latter. Kudos to them for doing it right!
I like it just ordered 4 my Nintendo rewards that I already own and payed only 1.99 shipping.
You can now add multiple rewards and no more of that painful £6.25 shipping.
It looks like Nintendo have robbed some platinum points off me. My Nintendo says one amount and the store says another, just earned some more by visiting the 3ds shop, collected 30 points and neither site has updated the new total.
@RupeeClock I got an email about it a week or two ago. To check I was ok with it being connected.
Yeah, you’re probably right. Although I expect it’ll be the same as what’s on Amazon.
Looks like it’s still The Hut Group, although I haven’t checked
@Kiz3000 the Mario Red Joy-Con Pair had been exclusively available from the [UK] MyNintendo Store for a few years. Wasn't well known about at all AFAICT
@ralphdibny I can see no information stating that it is still run by TheHutGroup
@jco83 👍 fair enough!
@jco83 Well I managed to miss that then. I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, including this very site, and I've never seen it whilst browsing. Well hidden indeed.
Does this mean that they now ship everything to countries outside of the UK and Ireland?
@JimiVall Sadly not.
Hmm, I wonder if I can finally get my SNES controller, as using the old system it would get to UK and then just stop then get returned to sender.
Gonna give it a go Fingers Crossed
@Bunkerneath yes I had the same issue with the Splatfest t-shirt! Had to order a 2nd time.... Still never got it after over 2 months and they blamed it on Brexit which could be true as never had these issues before.
I can't seem to post a picture but the packaging it comes in is also really nice. The box was excessive for just joy con but it came next day even though I didn't choose the express option so that's great.
Anyway the box itself is normal boring brown on the outside (good for safety if left on the porch) but is completely red laminate inside with Mario and the My Nintendo logo on the longer side you flip up. It looks really nice and makes the package feel more premium. Nice touch indeed.
You forgot to say that you can now order more things at once like in Murica
I hope they will implement it in rest of Europe until end of this month (I want my Mario magnets and bag but it's too expensive to ship both separately)
So it seems the service got an upgrade too, as the order I made yesterday arrived today! And arrived in some nice Mario packaging too!
