@Shinnok
they’re very similar. If you like one then surely you don’t think the other is awful. Have you actually played it?

Yep. “Revenge” is the best in the series. Also has the best soundtrack by a wide margin. Shinobi 3 (which I believe is actually Shinobi 5) is great, but it’s no “Revenge”.

I disagree. Personally I’d way prefer the next Mario, Metroid, and Zelda games to be pixel art. I think the retro look is better in almost all cases. For example, I way prefer Brutal Doom to the modern Doom games. I also think almost all of the best games that have released in the last 5 or 6 years have been 2d games, indie games, and pixel games. Triple A games suck arse. They’re all exactly the same. I think if large companies scaled back in the graphical departments, stuck to a retro look, and spent their budget on mechanics and gameplay instead games would be a lot less derivative than they’ve been for the past decade.

I don’t think it’s a massive improvement over the originals. I much prefer the original with pixel graphics (especially in the close-ups). I think the second game in particular is much better in its original version. Like I said, remasters look like cheap iOS remasters to me (which they kind of are).
The remaster art is somewhat similar to this new stuff, but the art in this new game is much more detailed. Compare the shot of the gaol area in both games.

As for the non Gilbert games becoming non-canon, last I heard that wasn’t entirely the case, though I’d be glad if it was. I always viewed them separately anyway. I’m just disappointed they brought back Dom armato. That guy sucks.

Disagree, but I’m a fan of the first two. Aesthetically I think the thirds great, but fails with the humour and writing, and Dominic armarto couldn’t sound like more of a middle American nerd if he was trying. As an Aussie I find his voice work extremely cringey and it completely distracts from the pirate setting. I wish they’d cast a classic British comedian like they did with Simon the sorcerer 1 and the discworld games. Elevated them above the pack (despite discworlds crazy puzzles). Having said that Ill accept it as long as he’s reading Ron Gilbert’s lines or if the Disney world plot is carried on. I guess in that case it makes sense. He probably would be American.
That art style though…
Definitely agree there could never be another Marty Mcfly

It’s not widely considered the best. Most true monkey fans like the first two and think how I do about the rest. Monkey 1 and 2 are adventure classics with great humour. Monkey 3 turned the series into a Disney cartoon for ten years olds, full of cringey ten year old humour and Americanisms from start to finish. (Does look great though.)
If you were a true monkey fan you’d know there’s been rumours of rob gilberts monkey 3 which would ignore the crappy sequels for over twenty years, and we’re finally getting it.
My gripe is that they’re keeping Dominic armarto. If it’s unrelated to the others why are they keeping the incredibly lame super American voice actors? British accents. They’re pirates!
My other gripe is the graphics in the teaser look worse than monkey 1 & 2 special editions. I just hope that’s just a teaser and they return to pixel graphics.
