Re: Talking Point: Does Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Rollout Of Event Updates Make It Feel 'Incomplete'?

@KarmaGoona some people don’t want to play a video game for a year, for hours and hours a day. Thats just crazy for most people. Even as a time traveler, Its just as long as any other video game and even longer. So I have no idea how long non-time travelers play I couldn’t imagine. I just don’t have the want to play a game for a year straight, having to go by the games schedule. I’d rather live by my schedule and not devote my life to a video game.

@Zeldafanforever I mean how is this different from any other video game? The thing about video games, is people progress at different rates and then post stuff on the internet about it. Like with every video game you play, this is a thing and people don’t get mad if someone on the internet is farther along then them. If you don’t want spoilers, then avoid certain places on the internet.

@TG16_IS_BAE Yeah, when the game came out I put out the same notion that it feels unfinished and got downvoted into oblivion, just for stating my opinion. They were like “best unfinished game I ever played” and then weeks later they complain about lack of content and characters, something I was worried about from the start, hence why I said It felt unfinished. Now they’re finally being like, “huh, it kind of feels unfinished, but no its just updates right? Updates were always intended right?” Idk man, every other animal crossing game came pretty much in a complete form, it was all there, so New Horizons deviated from what we all are used to. I found that Animal Crossing fans, of all people, are super petty and judgmental, at least some are. I don’t care about the time the content is released really, I just want good content and to not have a game with less content then all of the last games, which is how New Horizons is. We have less than half if the characters, less than half the furniture, and not much that replaces it, so they better be having a ton of updates. I need froggy chair and all that crazy furniture like the mad scientist techno themed set or something. And Brewster!!! And more design slots would be nice, like we need 100 at the least.

@Ardisan @Ardisan It affects them in no way at all. Its primarily a single player game. They are just complaining bc they’re jealous someone has progressed further than them because of time travel. I mean I get how it can spoil the game for others but like why is this different than any other video game? The thing about video games is people progress at different rates and lots of games have time manipulation because without it, the game would be too slow and boring. Animal crossing is a bit different though I admit but not that different and I respect people who stick to no TT because that is the method the creators mainly intended it for. But y’all need to CHILL honestly. I didn’t know the animal crossing community was full of so many judgmental people. Like who knew a cute, relaxing game with imaginary talking animals could be so controversial?

Re: You Can't Access Seasonal Events In Animal Crossing: New Horizons By Time Travelling

@TecmagDiams No,I think you are just flat out wrong. If its about experiencing it in real time then why has time traveling always been a feature? Like it wouldn’t be a feature if the game was supposed to be played in real time. It’s just an extra feature that can make the game more enjoyable depending on how you prefer to play. Its a preference. And the fact that many people use it should have no effect on your personal experience. If the game is more enjoyable for you to play in real time then by all means you can do that. But for many people who have busy lives outside of animal crossing (which nintendo has always been aware of and accounted for, therefore adding time travel), time travel is important. People are saying “well if you miss an event, then you miss it.” Like no. Animal crossing has never had this problem and allows people to experience the holidays in their own time. I dont want to wait till next year to just miss it again because im busy. Animal crossing is supposed to be a game for us to enjoy at our leisure and I have always enjoyed it because of that because I got to experience the way I wanted to. Just stop being butt hurt people and realize that its a game for many diverse players with different preferences.

@Deltath @Deltath If the point of animal crossing is to experience it in real time then why have they always added time traveling. I think there is nothing wrong with time traveling and its not “cheating”. Its just an additional feature of the game. Its nice because some people actually have lives outside of animal crossing and cant always play in real time. So if they miss something they can always go back. If you want to play in real time thats fine and a good challenge but its actually really fun to use time traveling. I really hope that new horizons will allow players with busy lives to be able to experience the events in their own time and not during a limited time. Its always been a feature of the game and one of the reasons I enjoy animal crossing. Also why is everyone so butt hurt on people time traveling or not time traveling. Since when did the way other people play the game influence your own individual experience. Its should be unique to everyone and New Horizons should allow for the option and accommodate for all the types of players and fans. Like its always done!
