Re: Nintendo Acknowledges Network Issues and Suggests Patience

It's fantastic to see that some of Nintendo's loyal customers are remaining patient and calm during what must be one of the longest outages of online services from Nintendo this year. That being said, I think it is important to remember that online services such as the eShop and MiiVerse are advertised as 'features' of the product that Nintendo sells to consumers. Nintendo should endeavour to ensure that their network has as much uptime as possible and have the necessary resources in place to ensure that their network can cope with sudden spikes in traffic. Yes, most content delivery networks such as PSN, Xbox Live and Steam also undergo busy periods - but I think that the last 24 hour has demonstrated that Nintendo either does not know what it is doing, or alternatively is demonstrably being ignorant of the real requirements for supporting their online network services. This is the time of year where thousands of new potential customers are boarding the Nintendo ship - and with the sudden rise in digital download codes and exclusive console bundles that Nintendo has been pushing - this can only leave a sour taste in allot of new customers mouths. Hopefully, this is a learning experience for Nintendo, and hopefully they implement some network load balancing and scalable computing resources in the years to come.
