How can the company that released the NDS be surprised by competition from tablets? The only reason I don't own a tablet is they haven't changed much in the last 8 years unless you're willing to settle for running iOS or android.
If the enemy has 80% of the map and you're outgunned, try to sneak/break past them so that your teammates can quick jump to you instead of being picked off at base.
In ranked, a similar idea would be taking an extra few seconds to ink a side route in maps such as Port Mackerel.
@SparkOfSpirit I love echolocator in Turf Wars, but in splat zones I can't take a zone with echolocator. When the opponent uses it I just swim left and right back and forth really quick and it doesn't really affect my defense.
While holding ZL (squid form), if you shoot one shot (tap ZR) at the ground about jumping distance away, you'll automatically jump into it at a relatively fast speed, and you can keep repeating it very easily. This is useful for when you want to swim away so you don't get shot at, but there's no ink for you to swim to (works in neutral or enemy ink). The splats are also large and don't use much ink which is a nice bonus.
Edit: My favourite way to use it is at the beginning of a Saltspray Rig Splat Zone match, use it to get from the front of the splat zone to the back, and then go around to the other side of the back of the splat zone. I have swimming and walking speed as main bonuses so am usually able to do this and start covering both sides of the back of the splat zone before anyone else can get through the front entrance.
Compared to the MG, I think the extra damage of the default splattershot jr. is worth it versus the slight movement and fire rate you're giving up. Plus you don't have to aim your special.
No, it's Nintendo of America World Championships. Europe wasn't even a country back during the original event, and it was in English so no one in Japan cared. So they shortened it to Nintendo World Championships.
They removed the local multiplayer from this version? o_O I never used it, but that's weird. (Edit: Then again most people would rather use an actual deck of cards)
@Magrane Unless you're expecting certain features, or for the AI to play like humans, I think you should still consider this. It looks like this version still has all those games. I have over 2000 hours on the Overload version, mainly playing Spades.
Edit: for Crazy Eights it seems if you enable twos the only option is "pick up two or play a two." And Go Fish seems to play weird, can only play 4 of a kinds instead of pairs.
You forgot an option, Steam user reviews are using the even smaller yes/no scale
If there was only one review site, and it was very thorough and consistent, then a 1-100 scale would be a tool for more precise reviews. A three rating is clearly better than two, and two is clearly better than one. However, more people are reading more reviews, so with a 1-5 scale or label system they can focus their thoughts on comparing the subjective opinion of each review (instead of automatically trying to compare scores).
Edit: What I mean is, before people compared the score to the score similar games got to guess how good it is. Now, we forget about other games and read multiple reviews for one game that we compare to each other; but we can't keep track of if an 88 from one site/reviewer is actually better than an 89 from a different site/reviewer.
@AshFoxX I don't have this exact version, but there should be three colours of the traditional tileset, a poker tileset (as seen in the screenshot), an egypt tileset (similar idea to traditional, but you can tell things apart a bit easier), and an "easy" tileset (mostly numbers).
@Donjwolf When you run out of matches, the game asks you if you want to start a new game or shuffle. Shuffling adds 10 seconds to your time.
By default, no tiles are highlighted, but the lower layers get slightly darker to make it easier to perceive depth. The highlighting removable tiles is optional. It's a feature I love and the dsiware version didn't have it so I remember commenting about that in a forum topic here, only to see you and the review for this version mention they hate it
The game surprised me with how much variety each card has considering how simple the gameplay is.
Most other CCGs I've played everything feels the same, and then an expansion comes out with everything basically being more powerful versions of what I already have.
In league, leveled up non-mages don't seem to gain enough HP though, which imo is making magic attacks overpowered.
@alLabouTandroiD If it's like the other versions it'll record your quickest time and win/loss % for each game.
In the version I have, for some of the less popular games I randomly sometimes have to hit undo then redo to "win", and I'm not sure but some high scores may have erased or didn't record (I probably needed to save to record, or I'm imagining the whole thing). I personally barely notice those things, but thought I should mention.
@retro_player_22 You're only making one payment. Currently this Kickstarter campaign is the only place you can buy a subscription for their year 3 issues. If the campaign doesn't raise $55,000, everyone gets refunded.
It's a free-to-play turn-based MMORPG currently at 50% being made with Unity. They re-launched the campaign after looking at funding options from Ouya, Nintendo, and Sony. After they finish the PC version, they'll make an Ouya port (5 months exclusive), then they have the Wii U listed as a console to port to. Have no idea if they'll actually do the ports though since I can't think of any f2p MMORPG's on Ouya or Wii U...
@WaLzgi I was saying most console games are going to have a premium price because the people who buy them aren't willing to go digital only, even if the specific game is digital only.
Of course iOS is still usually cheaper than (digital only) PC ports, but at least it's somewhat of a surprise there.
Today I learned if you buy the Sony version, you get the Apple version for free because they actually care about their customers, and vice versa. (sarcasm)
When I tried it, it seemed like a game I wouldn't want to play more than one mission at a time, which would make the digital version much more convenient. I'd rarely spend more than $20 on a digital game though.
@Chubblings: That's true, but in the Oculus Rift case, I think they're targeting late-2015 / early 2016 because of that. There's also even a 2nd version of the dev kit recently released that I assume somewhat reduces those problems.
Re: Flop
VR headsets are optional add-ons, what one person calls a flop can still be a success. Especially for Sony who cares more about being competitive than selling VR headsets. And I doubt there's anything stopping a USB PC headset from being able to support Wii U.
