@Seacliff Absolutely this. The Mega Drive didn't do nearly as well in Japan as it did in the west. If you go shopping for retro games in Japan you will mostly find Nintendo games because that's what everyone bought back in the day. You're more likely to find PC Engine games than Mega Drive games.. Mega Drive games are rare because there's not a lot out there and they sell for high prices.
@OdnetninAges Game Centers are dying in Japan. There's far less than there used to be even just 10 years ago. They will definitely disappear if you give them some time.
