Great game. I had never even heard of the series before i DL this one, and I enjoyed it a lot. I prefer Wonder Boy in Monster World, but this still has it's moments.
This is why I love VC. Gems like these, buried in time, only to be excavated and enjoyed by a lonely gamer with an itching trigger/face button finger all these years later.
@Damo: It's not only "meh", it's a very different game. This was more of a direct conversion while the NES is a completely different game.
Ah, CPS1 pornography at it's best! Never played this version, but it looks like a darn accurate conversion of the arcade original. Anyone ever played Strider 2 btw? That's a really sweet game.
A true cult classic, and for good reasons! Surprisingly deep gameplay for a NES side-scrolling brawler, hilarious jap design and plenty of comedy. Keep your eyes peeled for this release.
My best recommendations for this game. WONDERFUL action platforming with sweet gameplay, controls, music and graphics. Perfect for wasting away a Saturday with a cuppa coffee and a bowl of udon. Get this game, alright? You'll thank me (and Daz and everybody else who has posted positive comments about this) later!
And you know what's sick? I've never played any of the sequels or prequels.
I think Storyteller pretty much nailed it. Considering how Nintendo said the DS is "not a Game Boy", I say chances are huge the next Game Boy will include a heap of nice new feats, including this Portable VC option. Why not?
I own a hacked PSP myself. Hacking it requires some work, just like the wonderful GP2X Damo posted a vid of, that machine is pure homebrew gold. Not all of the emulators run at 100% though. It has some MINOR issues with SNES (though a lot of SNES games DO run at 100%), but stuff like Neo Geo MVS plays like flowing water. Thanks for an interesting article!
@Mad Bomber: What's Popful Mail? Never heard of it. Please enlighten us?
Yep, this game is sweeter than honey. Classic platforming RPG action with sweet music and, actually, a huge influence on other classic titles such as Legend of Zelda and even the MMORPG that is Maple Story. As for Popful Mail, I've yet to be informed about that. I LOVE THIS GAME. Highly recommended.
As awesome as Mega Man 2 is, the most "game" of the three you mention is Super Metroid. I've had many discussions with my cuz about what game one should own if one had to choose 1 single game...I say I would choose Metroid 3. It's a complete mix of action and adventure, and it covers all aspects of the genres completely. I'm not gonna bore you with why SM is one of the absolutely best games ever made (though there's no such thing as "very best game ever"), but you'll get a whole lotta game if you buy SM. A whoooole lotta game. It's worth the extra points. But I insist you buy MM2 as soon as possible after SM!
@tuf: KOF '01? I'd rather not! Kof '01 sucks MAJORLY compared to the previous game that WAS actually produced by the original SNK, not by Eolith. The sound has for some reason been downgraded and become extremely scratchy, the new sprites doesn't fit in with the old one, with weird shading and whatnot, the backgrounds are dull, the music is very, very lowpar compared to the earlier titles, even the character walking speed has been lowered. WHY?
I have NO idea what you see in the by far worst installment of this legendary series. As for Garou; I'm with you 100%. That game is so sweet...
@Ryan: I believe you, I really do. But damn, that sound and those graphics look TIGHT. I've never played it, but judging by that video, it almost looks great. But like I said...
TMNT doesn't suck THAT hard. I guess most of you guys never read AVGNs FAQ where he admits he exaggerates his criticism a bit of most of the games he bashes, as he focuses on what's really bad about a game. TMNT ain't no classic, but it definetly is NOT a game.

But I guess that's just one man's opinion.
@Brandon G: Then download the Turbo-grfx 16 version that is Dragon's Curse! It's the same game with minor tweaks.
And I must say to Alex Landgren, I don't completely agree. I prefer MW, cause it feels more complete. That's just me though. If you prefer speedy gameplay, you might wanna try DG.
Actually, mr Bass X, the Neo Geo version probably is a bit different considering the major differences in graphics and sound quality there is between the SNES and the MVS/AES. I still believe SF2 Turbo is a lot better, but this one might just still get downloaded by me today.

"BARF!"
Re: Crack Down
I've kept my eyes on this game for some time. Maybe it's time for another sweet 2p co-op game. I mean, there's always room for that, right?

Re: Mega Man 2
The slightly glitchy and half-awkward Megaman 3 might be extremely awesome otherwise, but to me, THIS is the definitive Mega Man.
The backstory about how Inafune insisted this game would be made and offering to work on it as he worked on a Capcom-Disney game...inspiring.

Re: TMNT increases in price for Europe
@chopblock: That's exactly how I played it as a kid.
But it IS weird and stupid that it costs 100 points more than other NES games.

But it's true that the SNES version sucks.
