@sdelfin Save states don't always mean it's a software emulator. If you can store what is in the system's memory somewhere, that's pretty much a save state. For example, the Everdrive N8 can use save states on actual hardware because it can read the NES memory.

It would've been nice to see this all done on an ASIC or FPGA rather than a software emulator, but maybe that's the purist in me hoping for what's ideal rather than what's practical from a business standpoint.
