Basically Microsoft and Sony have built their consoles to wear the games will look nearly identical on each console pending game developers efforts. Nintendo are not competing against Sony or MS to be top dog. Because Nintendo is the top dog on its own path, mostly.
If I was Sony, I would sell the console for $200 less than Microsoft. That would ensure the playstation user base to the maximum along with all eyes from nearly every game dev company wanting to make games for the PS. Then focus on next gen console more serious.
